737NGX shock absorbers' stiffness

Featured Replies

Well, i watch landing videos all the time and after landing the 737NGX multiple times (and also having a few bounce off's) i noticed that the shock absorbers are too rigid, like its hard to "make" them compress and if they do they will stretch quite fast without any bouncing. Also, ive noticed that they take some time to go softer after the landings (it happens as you loose speed), but on real life videos they compress way more easily (they are softer), they slightly bounce off a couple of times (just like in a car) and they "relax" pretty faster than what it takes in FSX.I hope you understood what i said :Hypnotized:Few videos to show:

In this video you can see what i mean and if you pay attention, NGX's shock absorbers are way more rigid and dont compress that much (unless you land very, very hard)

Here you can see the stiffness and the bouncing im talking about. After a few tests in FSX i find it hard to reproduce that without bouncing off the runway, i just find the absorbers way more rigid.I hope that youve understood this topic and feel free to comment whatever you want.--Santi

I have mentioned that long time ago eve before the RC was out in my wish list. Ever since PMDG MD11 and J41 I too find the shock absorbers too stiff.I can comment simply because I have a very good ground to compare. My personal best for simulating the absorbing capabilities of an aircraft landing gear is the Captain SIm B707-300. One must really try it to feel what is missing in the touchdown in almost any other add-on including PMDG.Dear Santa (understand PMDG team), please include this wish in SP2.

Glad to hear im not the only one... i was expecting people to reply "nah nah shock absorbers are fine you suck bla bla bla" :D

Apparently this is one thing that FSX is no good at. In FSX, the landing gear acts as one whole thing, the shock absorber is basically just a visual effect. The only way you can modify is the contact points section in the aircraft.cfg but that is enormous amount of work and didn't work for me as I was trying to do the same with CLS's A330..

Im not saying to make this 100% realistic as im aware that FSX's got limits, but if captain sim could do it, i bet PMDG can! Maybe it is very hard to make it realistic but im sure it can be polished :)

and capt sim aircraft as realistic as the pmdg ngx and not that ur flying from the outside view and you wouldnt see how the struts perform anyway, unless you got an under the fuselage mirror on board.

Some of these threads just crack me up !!" I think there is not enough air in one of the tyres. "Will PMDG be fixing this ? :(

Never mind. Not touching this one.
Why post then?

Gents-We disagree- so no... we won't be "fixing" it.We can make it look like a sponge but this then has negative impacts in other places that are more serious. Welcome to the world of FSX.
