January 1, 201214 yr You know, I've been running Win7x64 Pro SP1 for a couple of months now and find it robust, fast, efficient, and quite engaging. The only reason that I would not want to change to it would be any type of forced DRM implementation and the push towards silverlight. But if you don't use Windows update (I never have on this system and it runs great) and you use an alternative browser like the awesome Firefox, then I can't see any reason other then bucks and time not to move to it. Many of you know that I don't like corporate control of my systems and I've found Win7x64 Pro passes my little test of being able to turn of the corporate spyware. IMHO...Mark

January 1, 201214 yr Hello FolksNot wishing to hijack ,but another Windows XP question .My PC originally came with Windows XP 32bit Home Edition pre-installed ,but no copy on CDROM. I do have a genuine product key (actually stuck on top of my PC case )There have been times (recently) that i would have liked to do a re-install of XP ,(but no CD) if i were to get hold off ,or someone was to give me a copy of XP would i be able to use that ,enter my original product key ,and do the whole shebang legally (don't want to deprive old Bill of a few quid).Don't really want to buy a copy (still quite pricey) and I have of course paid for it once, and I imagine it won't have support much longer (Great shame!)anyways Happiness and deep joyous joy for the new year.Andy
January 1, 201214 yr Thank you for the reply. I will definitely dig some more info about winxp 64. If it has the same ability as win 7 64 handling OOM, why on earth its not as popular as win 7 for simmers?ntdll.dll error you mentioned; what Graphic Card you use? I dont know if this helps, but are you sure you've tried all drivers between 192.**- to current? Because 258.62 should work well.Alas ! WinXP x64 is no more sold (it was sold only in OEM version) ...About my graphic card, it's a Asus GTX 560 Ti and yes, I have tried 258.62, same result. But it's really not a problem, W7 64 will be used only for, maybe FSX, but certainly for Flight or Prepar3D.Happy New YearPierre LFBE Pierre LFBE

The serial number you input will determine which version is installed. If your hardware has changed dramatically you may need to telephone Microsoft to be able to activate it but it is painless.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
January 1, 201214 yr Probably a good idea to talk to your IT team, calling win7 rubbish and claiming it is slower then xp32 bit is a completely inacurrate statement. It sounds like your install at work is rubbish. How can you judge an operating system based on your work pc?DittoI was an XP 32 bit user for years, but Win 7 absolutly blows XP away in terms of performance and realiability. I have no issues with FS9 or any other app including office running Win 7. Like stated before your work pc or your IT dept has issues.
