737NG suggestions for improvement

Featured Replies

Pete, you need to look up PMDG NGX to get a good NG for FSX the default NG is terrible and nothing more than a game, the PMDG offering is a simulation on it's own. Also, did you used to fly for DBA?

Ok! after reading all this replies above I think I have to check my Home PC-performance and ist graphic card!?Maybe this will be the solution.
Yes, which 737 are you talking about?

Well, I`ve bought the FSX four month ago. Some weeks ago I`ve bought the PMDG NGX and it is a great simulation, very close to the real FMC-values and IFR technics and results. The real aircraft is for me easier to handle because it is part of my daily business and generally aircrafts behavior are closer to humans intuitive motor ability. Both "systems" are working analogic. So far, so good. Now about my request, if I`m using the virtual cockpit mode and turn my view into the inside of the Flight-deck, I can`t see any numbers and letters on the keyboard of the FMC-control display unit (CDU)! Only because I know the function of the keys in mind, I can use it and insert all that I need. Maybe my PC is too poor to show them? Do anybody of you have an idea what`s wrong?P.S. Thank you all, for your evaluation about this problem!

Hey Pete in the future you might want to post in the PMDG forums. For this one you can try to mouse click on the CDU and it should pop up into a 2D panel for easy use. I slide it over to my second monitor and leave it there.

Sounds like you have a missing font?Try a reinstall.

Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

Maybe the CDU backlighting should be on all of the time, even if the pedestal backlighting is off?

Regards

Thank you Allwhen I am back home I gonna try all this options for the FMC-CDU

Depends on the stab trim setting....
Generally -if your trim is inside the green band and you have VR-, Rotation behavior is more a function of the aircraft weight. In this simulation you are right, it`s just related to the trim and I have to pull the control wheel to the back end to get any result like Nose Up effect.

So are you saying that if trim is set properly, the plane should start to rotate without any stick input at VR, like a Cessna would? If so then Captain Sim 757/767 models this correctly, as they are the only airliners to model this behavior I have seen in FS. I have always wondered if that was realistic behavior in an airliner? If it is, then the Captain Sim Flight Models may be better then many of us in this forum gives them credit for!

No, I`m saying -properly trimed and VR- you have to pull the yoke slowly so that the a/c Pitch Rotation is 3° per second. On my Home computer I have to pull the control wheel complete backward and trim back to get a first reaction of Ptich Up movement, - that could only be a fault of my home-equipment!

Well, even more important is the CG I'd say. If you have a nose heavy plane and the trim is on the forward end of the green band you have to pull very hard to get the rotation started.
you have to pull very hard
Ugh, the old fly-by-tire technology! blum.gif

Right. Usually, - everyone should never depart with an misstrimed aircraft! But: the trim is more to take the load of the controls related to the position of the current center of gravity (CG). Means: lift is a function of speed, angle of attack and weight related to present atmospheric conditions! If I am able to pull the yoke at the correct VR the aircraft should fly.

But as you said Pete it comes down to your hardware (such as your joystick or yoke on your PC). How you have it set up makes a lot of difference in how the plane responds in FSX too (dead zone, sensitivity and so on). I have mine set to be very sensitive with no dead zone, light to the touch instead of having to use a heavy hand.

First Al: Thanks you for your help, -it works to click the CDU screen to get a full operable 2D-keybord. When I tryed a lot of things I found different operating-modes of switches by mouse-function between my stored missions! In some the right mouse button acting the knobs to turn to the r/h-side, others the mouse-wheel does that job! So I have to expect o lot of calibration in my system following a reinstall. I`ll keep you informed about the processing. Thanks to All at this point.
