Mine is getting a 404 errror according to the update log. Maybe it's cos I'm on Linux. Anyway it's not connecting.

I couldn't download. Got an error message that a log file was read only. went and looked at the file wasn't attributed as read only, so don't know what happened. I'll try again now, after doing a reboot.

Got it downloaded. Looks promising, I think, of course I am an optimist. Clouds appear to be better, At 30% I get pretty good clouds and not oo bad a fps hit. Tried 3 levels of clouds did pretty well. It is cloudy at KPWA so gave RW weather a go, looks good I have some pretty severe storms to he south of me, coming out of Texas, so maybe in an hour or two I'' have a good exercise.Really changed the color of my home airport. I got lost as I was looking for the tannish yellow sand that has been around most of the airports. It has changed to grass here with 10 mile visibility I coldn't see the airport at seven milles out. That is good in my opinion.

Well it looks like I just have to wait. It keeps saying mine is up to date (which it isn't). When I use the linux updater It fails and shows the 404 error in log.txt file

I just tried it on my demo version and am underwhelmed by the still flat clouds, so will stick with b7 for now. Anyone else still seeing flat clouds? No real depth to them?

I haven't used it for too long. Frames are still not as good as they have been for me. A far as the clouds I have noticed that when flying just under when you get just to me there is a bit of an anomaly where it kind of flashes to all cloud or none, like the volumetric is not behaving quite right.

My frame rate performance is back up..... This release is pointed in the right direction !!
That's good to hear, although it sounds like clouds still aren't as pretty as earlier versions.

From release notes,

Clouds look better.. best yet!
And a screenshot, cloud setting at 40, tried all the way up to 100, made no difference, other than frame rates. Visuals didn't change. When your below the cloud deck it looks fine, get above it. and this is what you see.I think his head's in the clouds if he thinks this is the best yet....sort this crap out.And no, I'm not sending him an e-mail. I didn't buy this program to be his beta testing puppet. He came take 30 minutes of his precious time and scour some of the forum groups like the rest of us to see what people are saying.Glen

i'm havimg much different results with RC1...LOVE IT!

As I said, below the cloud deck it looks fine, get above at it's a different story....more proof.GlenHere's some other shots I took, first is just coming through the clouds, it's fine, next is from above. Still a mess. From the ground looking up or even level with the clouds they look fine, get a few thousand feet above them and they are bad. My system is not hurting either, there is excellent cloud coverage as you can see in the last shot, frames per second are 39, it's just the clouds look terrible from above.

Honestly, reporting this issue takes no more effort than it took you to post about it here in the forum. Use the X-Plane Bug Reporter. The more people who report something, the more likely it is to be addressed.

Already been done, nothing has changed (they don't look as good as they used to), besides I have all kinds of time. He even has the nerve (don't know if that's the right word) to say there the best yet, you have to be kidding.Just making others aware, they deserve to know before slapping down their money. Wouldn't want anybody getting mislead...that's only fair.......enough said about that.Glen
