Mitch,Would it be 2D cockpit view in FS9.1 or FSX (PMDGNGX)?

he saw the 2D window and probably remembered it as 3Dit is just funny, anyone reading the description of that link on Flight 1 could clearly see it didn't add rain at all
Are you saying there is rain effect on the windshield in the PMDGNGX 2D cockpit and what he seen is correct?

The problem is that to do rain on the windshield it takes a lot of animations - each section of drops has to be its own thing and there's a ton of frames needed to make it look right. We're very very close to FSX's hardcoded limit on these animations - if we exceed it, other stuff randomly stops working.I sincerely doubt that anyone would like losing things like the HGS or the 3d lights... that's what it'd take to have rain hit the windshield. There's just limitations we have to accept I'm afraid - FSX is 6 years old this year and showing its age.
How about to implement it and let this as an option to toggle on or off advertising users about the possible consequences ?I bet that 90%-100% of pilots would enable the rain effect.Thx

...and randomly lose more important effects like the HUGS, switch positions, and other animations? Really? You can count me out of your stats.

Guys, you CAN (from memory) have rain in your cockpit in FSX: but only on the 2D panel. I suspect that's what Dave remembers: rain in the 2D panel, because it surely cannot work in the VC without placing actual raindrop animations.EDIT: Oh, see somebody already posted this... Sorry :S

Could you do a screenshot of your PMDGNGX 2D cockpit showning raindrops on the windshield?

Sure, when I have the time to boot up FSX, I will. Why, you don't see it?

I don't see rain on the windscreen in 2D or 3D. Although I have EZCA and I don't know if this has anything to do with it.

Ok,Post the PMDGNGX raindrops (screenshot) on the 2D windshield when you get a chance to boot up.

Hi!for example, I'm not using the HUGS. If I have this option generelly not activated, wouldn't I get new recourses for new animations? Because in these case I can't lose HUGS system; it's off. Perhaps it is not realistic, but a thought, only.

I doesn't work like that. You wouldn't be able to just say "oh hey, I can live without the HUGS, so I'll swap the rain for the HUGS." FS will cannibalize whatever it feels like cannibalizing, if I'm thinking this through correctly. Basically, it'll be a switch sometimes, or the armrest another - the throttles one time, and the fuel levers another. Can you live without the fuel switches?I'm no modeler, but as far as I know, the switch will still work, but you won't see it work visually - that's my understanding, and I find that very important. I think everyone is making a bigger deal about this rain thing that it's worth.
