No. This has been discussed before. I believe the response from Ryan (Tabs) from PMDG was that they are at the limit for effects in the VC therefore rain effects are not possible.

I would have really sacrified few other fxs to have the rain one on the windshield.

Try "ultimate weather fx" it adds a nice rain effect on the windshield, i use it some years a go in fs9 but it's also for fsx.check the link: http://secure.simmar...eather-fx.phtml
and if you actually read the features, it says rainfall effects are only for fs9, which the NGX can't run onthe product is nothing more then a competitor to Real Environment Xtreme if you are using the NGX

I am using it. No rain effects in fsx...ITS VERY MISSING :sad:But the thing is that the weather is total joke in all microsoft flight sims.Even with active sky you not going to have realistic cloud occurance and other weather depiction. You get rain, snow above clouds, the earth is visible from hight altitude even if there is rain and no visibility. No icing, no realistic thermal stuff. No possibility for weather radar, which will show actual stuff (not fake). It's very big joke, especially with sensitive aircraft like pmdg...Even in new Flight you don't get 3d clouds...It's 2012 man...

There actually are 3D clouds. not quite the same way they are in real though. I have spent more than one summer afternoon on the ramp watching a massive storm build up from nothing, and no, FS wont do that, true.

They are just textures which turn facing aircaft. 201056155048705.png

arranged in 3D shapes, rather than just single 2D textures with a rotate-to-user tag, as before. Not much other ways to model a cloud out there.I am not sure these rotate though...

Not sure about this information, but i heard that fully 3d clouds are made in xplane10. They have shadows and change colour in dusk or sunset and so on.

That is not relevant though, you could easily make these clouds change colors as well, and have shadows. That said I do not know how exacltly are the clouds in XPL10 modelled, but I suspect very similarly.

I thought REX attemped awhile back to include shadows from clouds but later gave up or highly cut back it's effors as to many problems arose.http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/13555-cloud-shadows/

love how the OP asked about rain effects and it was answered, and everyone is now talking about cloud colors and shadows
