rain effect

Rgr that. Just saying that it provided rain on the windshield of the NGX for me. I thought I had some screen shots, sadly, they were eliminated when I did re-installed from an image (had nothing to do with the rain effect).Anyway, the frame rates were pretty bad, so out it went. Anyway, it worked in the VC. By the way, after a few re-loads of FSX, it also slowed down the loading of the windscreen textures. But until I went back to my image, I could get rain drops rain in front of the front windscreen and if I remember correctly (it's been several months) ON the windscreen itself.Personally, I don't think it's worth it, especially with the frame rates going to "heck". But if someone wanted to see it, well, there you are.

Dave,The F1 file has nothing to do with raindrops on the windshield ... if my readings are correct.I think you are looking for someone to test your previous findings for you?

Im confident that the F1 fix wont do anything to get the rain drops in the VC to appear no matter what anyone says. As PMDG has mentioned as well as other developers, the VC rain effects have to be built into the model, otherwise PMDG would have said to just download and install the F1 fix if it was that easy.I wont test it because confident it wont work considering that, plus I would hate to screw something up with my FSX install. I'd be interested to see if anyone else would like to try and report back to confirm or PMDG to chime in on this.

Jim,Not at all. A few guys were asking if it was possible. Just reporting on what I experienced. I have no interest in this besides pointing people to a possible alternative.Amazing though, how this stuff spins out of control. My fault, I knew better.... lol.I'm trying so hard to get out of this one...

Dave,"I have no interest in this besides pointing people to a possible alternative".This is the problem here. It is not an alternative."I'm trying so hard to get out of this one..."A screenshot would do it.It is a simple download and run the exe file. Then load the PMDGNGX on a rainy day.Edit:I just did a "search" on this subject. This link:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/64680-fsx-vc-rain-problem-fix/Mentions this in the thread:"Ok, Some of you are getting confused here. This is not to fix the animated raindrops. That went away with FSX SDK created aircraft. What this fixes is FS9 models that are ported over to FSX. SP2 created a situation where the visibility looking out of the windscreen was obscured when raining. This fixes it for those FS9 > FSX models. Go back and read my original post.Regards,Jim RhoadsFlight1"

Ok, let's wrap this up.Regardless of what the Flight 1 Rain Fix was designed for, I installed the Rain Fix after the last PMDG HotFix was produced, I used Active Sky to find an area with a lot of rain, I booted into that airport runway, took off, and had rain in front of the front windscreen and IF I remember correctly, rain drops on the front windscreen.I had to go back to a system image after the Service Pack for the the NGX was released, and I did not re-install the Flight 1 Rain Fix. I am not going to reinstall the Rain Fix, because it slowed the loading of the NGX front windscreen, and from time to time the loading of the NGX would stop at the loading of the windscreen. I believe this was due to my graphics settings, but can't be sure. The frame rates were really bad, so I will not be re-loading the Rain Fix, ergo, no screen shots. If someone, perhaps with a faster processor or better graphics card, wishes to try this, they should try it. It worked, regardless of what it was designed for. I offered this as informaiton only, perhaps to someone more versed than I in FSX programming, as it MAY be a means to an end (providing code that would give everyone these textures). I do not use the Rain Fix due to the problems noted above, and I won't be reloading it again.I sincerely hope this answers everyone's questions. I won't be replying again to this thread.Best to everyone.

Back on topic if I may,I would much prefer to of seen an option in the PerfMan allowing us to enable the rain effect with the loss of a few other animations in the VC as it does give you that extra feel of realism.I understand there are coded limitations within FSX but just like the weather radar, if paying customers request a feature regardless of its 100% accuracy to the evironmens, I feel it should be considered and prgramed into the PerfMan so each customer can choose what they feel comfortable with.Even support to intergrate the RealityXP WX500 into the Center DU maybe with a hotspot clickable position to change it from Systems to WX.Not real I know, but either is not having a WX in an NGX in RL either ..With saying that though, I appreciate the addon the way it is and thanks PMDG for such a bueatifully detailed aircraft.

The problem is , as Ryan said, that when you pass the animations limit, other animation start to stop working RANDOMLY. So, there isn't anything to choose...

Take a look at the Flight 1 site for Rain Texture Fix for FSX. I tried it in the NGX, it worked,. but was tough on the frame rates so I disabled it. But if you want it, it's there for free.Google is your friend.
I installed, but it doesnt work. FSX SP2 with eather PMDG, carenado or default planes
Quit blowing smoke, Dave. It's detrimental seeing as how people come to these forums for knowledge. When someone swears up and down something completely false, those less knowledgeable "buy it". There is no way, no how, you had rain effects on your windows in the NGX. To the point where some folks could say you're outright lying. I won't go that far, as I'm hopeful your memory is just incorrect. Either way, what you claim is an impossibility. It's convenient that you "uninstalled it". Are you aware of how the Flight1 rain effect fix even works?I will, however, download the fix and apply it. If it works like you claim, I'll tell everyone that you are the NGX Forum God until the next big break through. Installed. No rain effects! I was correct.

he saw the 2D window and probably remembered it as 3Dit is just funny, anyone reading the description of that link on Flight 1 could clearly see it didn't add rain at all

Mitch,Which 2D window are you referring to?
