February 28, 201214 yr HelloAnd I always thought that we had cornered the market in silliness here in the UK, we have some way to go yet it seems.Remember British Leyland? At one time it would let anyone (invited visitors included) into its site unless they were driving a British Leyland vehicle. It's since gone bust. Gerry Howard

February 28, 201214 yr Every factory is different and most will make you park in the backlot if you arrive to work in a competitors vehicle. Sometimes a new employee will have a competitors vehicle and will have to park in the backlot. Employees do get great discounts and the incentive of parking in the main lot and having a closer walk. Parking in the backlot means you have to walk further and that sucks when you arrive late in the rain.A couple of my co-workers worked at Chrysler before being laid off a few years ago. What you said is exactly how they described it. Usually, non-Chrysler/Dodge vehicles were made to park in the farthest lot, but not every factory had the same rules. They said the same didn't hold true for delivery vehicles though, and that this policy was something that had been relaxed over time, so that by the time they left it was hardly ever enforced. And yeah, they got some pretty good deals on cars - much better than the "employee discounts" you see advertised on t.v. to the general public. The catch was that the discount varied by vehicle and often the best deals were for vehicles loaded with options. So, they sometimes would end up paying the same, but got a loaded car rather than the base model. Still not a bad deal, I guess. My site: www.martinstrong.com/FS_Project.htm
