With those two facts, its clear to understand the hate. MSFS has always had a VERY loyal fanbase, and MS has done a lot to ###### that fanbase off.

Honestly, as a commercial developer I could clearly be justified in my "anger" and, honestly if it were not entirely counter-productive to do so, I would.Okay, more honesty here: I did spout off with some rather vitriolic and excessive rhetoric myself many months ago!After I began beta testing, and finally had a chance to work off my initial anger, wipe the sneer off my face, and take an honest and forthright look at what Flight is and quit focusing on what it isn't......I finally realized that in the long term whether Flight succeeds or fails won't really matter all that much for me personally or financially. Let's cover the three likely outcomes:1. Flight is a failure -

FSX and FS9 will continue to be viable platforms for at least another decade or so, my FS9/FSX work will continue to sell. Some "Flight" users will decide to add FSX+ to their portfolio of software.

2. Flight is a success, but no entry for me as a 3rd party. -

The single biggest reason is that many have simply refused to accept that MSGS is starting out by attempting to build a solid, reliable core platform, as well as get the new distribution and installation system to work smoothly for everyone, and do so using a small, but very tightly integrated geographic area. This minimizes for them the number of problem areas to deal with.Once the core is deemed reliable and solid, then they (MSGS) can begin the process of bolting on new modular bits with increased functionality.Flight is version 1.0 of an entirely new paradigm for MSGS. It really is that simple.

Bill,I hope you are right. I think the best thing many of us can do is go use FSX for the next 18-24 months and come back and see where the 'Flight' franchise is then.

Yes Jeff, I did. Everyone seems to conveniently overlook the near disaster that FSX RTM was, and which even after thousands of man-hours and two Service Packs remains to this day with lots of broken bits of code, CTD's etc.Nonetheless, FSX + SP2/Acceleration remains a very good platform (well, really the only viable platform) that cater's to the needs of the many, despite it's warts.Don't you think that even Microsoft is capable of learning that you can't really make a silk purse out of what was methophorically speaking a sow's ear? :LMAO:

I guess I should have asked....do you really believe that? hehe. I remember the FSX RTM....that's not even in this convo. I guess with the release of flight (yes not capitalized...lol), it does not seem to me that they will delvelop towards what we wanted to begin with...a full featured flight sim. I just don't believe they're working small and moving to a larger platform as you eluded to. The entire thing seems like it was thrown together. Even their marketing dpt is posting videos on their fb page from users that are 10X better made then their release vid. I do agree that what they have looks nicer and cleaner, etc., and that we're not the target market. I think that giving them the benefit of the doubt and going with their plan, it's shelf life with their target demogrpahic is going to be short lived at best. That's just my opinion though. I'm of the thinking that the whole thing is now apples to oranges. If one likes it--I say have fun.

If you hate Flight that much, please do not read or post here. This forum is not going to become the toilet for those who need to relieve themselves from their FLIGHT indigestion. I think you might have been a little over-zealous in this regard. My (extremely polite) post could in no way be considered a "vent". I meantioned that I liked Flight twice within the post. Is it possible for you to undelete the posts so that others can see what I said? Please send me a PM and inform me what specific language I used that would be appropriate for a "toilet".

Problem Thread, going nowhere good - and its one of those that is a nightmare to mod. With that title it does 'bait the other side' - so I've Locked it. I haven't deleted the thread and I've brought back some of the removed posts as they had valid points.
