Not possible to fly to 80,000 ft yet?

Featured Replies

So as you may know theres an aerocache located at a height of around 80,000, something tells me my mustang wont quite make it that highdo i have to wait for them to release a new dlc?

I got the Mustang up to about 35,100 feet. At 32,000 you get an "award". I then dove for the water and got 2 more awards... breaking the sound barrier and reaching 20Gs.In "real life" I weigh 275 Lbs... I don't think I would have survied 20Gs. LOL! I probably would not even fit inside the cockpit to begin with!!! HaHaHa!

We all have to wait for an SR-71, or an Orbiter

Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

Could be an X-43, X-52 or maybe a Mig-25.

I hit 38,500 on the Mustang before I went for the achievement but I get bored trying to hit 40,000. I can't imagine trying to hit 80,000 in the Mustang. I feel like they have content ready to go but just want to space it out so people don't get overwhelmed. I imagine the DLC for the 80k will be coming shortly... I hope! I like this new content!

I too have given up on the 40,000ft mark. I tried everything from setting weather to have high winds hoping it'll give me that extra "boost".. No dice.. I peaked out at 39,250.. I felt like Chuck Yeager during the Flight Of Icarus.. Stalled out and plummeted back to earth just within reach of my goal! :angry: :lol:7b08cd99.jpg

Grats on going as high as you did though. I hate being so close but so far at the same time *literally* I might just have a go for it tomorrow out of sheer mulishness.

Good luck. I don't think it's possible. I only reached that height on a hailmary lunge at the heavens. The mark we both hit seems to be the general `deadzone' for the Mustang.. Which isn't bad considering it's service ceiling is 38,000ft. I just got done attempting it once last time with 29kt winds and only reached 38,400 before admitting defeat. Going to give her one last go.. Got it set with a barebones 63 gallons of fuel to make her light as possible. (ok, I didn't give up just yet lol)

I have this odd suspicion that there may be a hidden, possibly invisible SR-71 somewhere in the game. I can't imagine why they'd put in an aerocache that couldn't possibly be achieved. The most likely place for this, if it exists,is Hickam Air Force Base on the northwest edge of Honolulu airport.Ok, if I were an SR-71, where would I be hiding? Well, there's a large hanger with *something* in it... it blocks your way if you try to walk through, and is irregularly shaped. It may be about the right size for an SR-71, I think, but I can't make out a shape. If it's an invisible aircraft, I wasn't able enter it.Hook

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

I believe there's a reference to the SR-71 in one of the aerocache desciptions (perhaps the 80,000 ft one?).[pure speculation] I'm guessing we'll see an SR-71 DLC at some point, perhaps for those who want a fast Journey to Alaska :P [/pure speculation]
