I found the keyhole for possible painting!

Featured Replies

So recently I have been looking to "Mod" Microsoft Flight. I have found a folder called "CoreContents.pak" with heavy Curiosity, I extracted it and found all the source files for Microsoft Flight!!! I found the Simobjects folder and saw most of the planes there are extremely formatted differently. I am looking in to painting planes actually seeing that there is no aircraft.cfg and there are certain texture X folders. Very sloppy and unorganized post but I anted to get something that would probably be game-changing out there.

It's hashed up and encoded.. Change so much as a file name in that and your game will not run.

Change a bit and the checksum won't work either, and I strongly believe there might be some other surprises.

All true and true again. But I never underestimate the modders, either! :wink:History is on their side.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

You're definitely right, I'm sure it'll be `bypassed' soon enough.. The problem is this.1. Modders bypass the checksum2. Microsoft sees it3. A day later a mandatory update it sent out re-securing their precious cargo and restoring any `mods' to back to default.

Well - how many people will make this happy if it happen ?stopping people being creative is not just right ! i can see a rebellion on the making ! if this is what will happen.

Something like Windows Update or Microsoft Security Essentials, one update every hour, for your pleasure and enjoyment. Isn't that’s the beauty of being connected LIVE to a server.

Many of us first discovered the corecontent pak file during the beta...and of course, extracted it. :Nerd:

I don't really see that happening (rebellion).. Everyone who spent a dime on MS Flight knew exactly what they were getting into. Closed development.. I could see if they never mentioned it, then after release were like "Oh btw, yeah md5'ed suckers! Good luck with your mods!"..Not the case though.. We all knew this would be locked tight since 2010.

I for one for the most part like the closed development.. Well.. With the exception of no repaints.. I love repainting but I'm over that. Why I like the closed development is there is no guess work involved if something doesn't work right.. There is no wondering if it's a buggy core or one of the one million modifications and bolt on additions you added to it causing the issue. The way it is now if there is a bug you already know who to contact.. Really eliminates endless hours of self debugging.. Just my `positive' spin on things.. I throughly enjoy MS Flight though it's a breathe of fresh air.. 3 days and I have 21hrs of flight time racked up already and 3,000nm traveled.. I'm hooked.

This point of view certainly has validity. I can remember on several occasions uninstalling FSX, all of my addons, mods, etc, and reinstalling FSX from scratch, then my addons one-by-one to figure out what happened. Sometimes it was massive frame hits, sometimes I just couldn't load a flight. Since I think I'm done with the headaches of trying to get FSX to run smootly with ATC, AI, and Scenery addons just to name a few, I think I'm going to appreciate the current model that Flight offers.
Don't mess with it, look at what happen to the last guy who tried... overclocking.gif
I personally have nothing to add of value to this post, however, I would like to thank alain for smiley face getting burned because I haven't laughed this hard all day!
