March 8, 201214 yr One of my professors at uni had a story about how when learning to fly in real life he passed the tower in a Piper Cub... flying backwards. My father told me a similar story, but the reference point was a nearby telephone pole near the airfield, a small stripe between Pennington and Lawrenceville, NJ. This was a long time ago. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual
March 8, 201214 yr loved the video! really great stunts and a nice production! Is the video speeded up, I don't seem to get the same sensation of speed when I fly.Is it possible to set wind speed and direction? I can only find the weather themes and have not been able to choose the wind settings.Thanks.The video is not speeded up. You have to fly very close to the ground to get the speed sensation. Do the "hug the road" stunt.... fly just above the road n go below tree branches and u will get the sensation. do it with full throttle with the Icon A5. No way to change the wind speed for now. The giant theme shd hv some strong wind you r looking for.You don't really need a light plane, just enough wind: Amazing video! Looks like ms flight need a new achievement : Perform hovering with an airliner. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
March 8, 201214 yr You don't really need a light plane, just enough wind: Oh yes sure, I forgot that video. Thanks for the remind.
March 8, 201214 yr Yup.. That video shows the other side of the coin well.. MS Flight has a great flight engine under it. You can bounce around via VOR and enjoy the game as a great GA simulator or cut loose and have innocent fun also. Glad to see it. Flight Simming does not have to be super serious 24/7..I do have to laugh though at using the canopy as a speed brake. :LMAO:Canopy speed brake has become my flying habit in ms flight.I have yet to do it while carrying pax or animals....not sure what's their reaction like. When flying in fsx with fspassenger, that's a immediate points deduction.I do hope for another mode of gameplay in ms flight....which is with some basic FAA rules. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
March 9, 201214 yr LOL - I see FastCheetah702 is up to his antics again - I did a session with him the other day getting 4 of us settled onto the garage next to the cruise ship - it was a hoot.I was in that session, doing missions, sounded like fun but I was hellbent on unlocking everything at the time :D E - Gamer, Windowshopper, Wide-eyed Child
March 9, 201214 yr 20-25 knots crosswind landing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGBfA3saZ5Y Free mind, young attitude.
March 9, 201214 yr Commercial Member That video was great! Never thought to use the canopy as a speed brake! Im sure some hard core simmers are rolling there eyes in disgust, but they can have there PMDG 737. I like to fly!!! Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
March 10, 201214 yr Rush1169 told me about this post.Great fun doing those stunts...I hv compiled a utube vid for some of the stunts. check it out. Rooftop landing record is 5 planes on it...lolHi,Another vid covering 4 more stunts in MS Flight.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLMEHjrdvAo&context=C42014f6ADvjVQa1PpcFMQX7T7wPtEBh5dqs6hVsvKPz1_IpsF7JI=Stunt #8 : Observatory Landing, seems impossible without those antennas on the Hilo tower. Anyone wana prove me wrong? :Hypnotized: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
March 11, 201214 yr Unbelievable slow speed in a cessna. Pilot claimed wind calm when he performed that. Is this even possible?! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
March 11, 201214 yr Sure it's possible, can't see the RPM in that video, but you can hear the engine going at a fair clip. My bet is he's got it hanging on the prop, on the "back of the power curve".Good to see people having fun in the sim too! I just did the Maule landing challenge at the observatory parking lot, in 60-80mph winds! That was a lot of fun! Not too sure about the "ILS landing" in the RV, though, since there ARE no IFR instruments in Flight...

March 14, 201214 yr I really laughed with the "spoilers" going up on touchdown :LMAO:If you are flying the the icon, open the canopy and shut down the engine give you the emergency brake! :LMAO: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
May 3, 201214 yr Stunt #8 : Observatory Landing, seems impossible without those antennas on the Hilo tower. Anyone wana prove me wrong? Actually, I landed perfectly on top of the observatory dome by accident while doing the #6 Maule challenge. I forgot to immediately set the parking brake, so I was soon blown down from there. But, I am proud to say, that was the landing that got me the the backward landing achievement :-). Sadly, I was not set up to take a picture. Speaking of parking brakes, I've noticed I can make super short landing rolls by landing with the parking brake on. I imagine this is something that would ruin the wheels, brakes and/or undercarriage on real planes? BTW, this is my first post. I have lurked around for some months in the Flight forum. I played MS flight simulator the first time on a 286 in the late 80s, and veeery briefly played some of the versions that came out over the years. A week after I bought FSX, the thing was shut down. Even though Flight has only been out for a couple of months, I think I have already spent more with Flight than I have with all the FS versions combined. For me, this is the perfect mix of fun and realism!
May 3, 201214 yr Speaking of parking brakes, I've noticed I can make super short landing rolls by landing with the parking brake on. I imagine this is something that would ruin the wheels, brakes and/or undercarriage on real planes? Instant blown-tires, pretty much. Even if they don't blow, you'll need new ones because they are certainly flat-spotted now. You might need new brakes, too. You may even need to patch some holes in the belly or under the wings, depending on where the chunks go.
May 3, 201214 yr I've seen it happen while on the hold short line. Very very messy. with a 35 knot headwind you should be able to hold the Icon nearly in a hover in slow flight. Try doing a rectangular pattern in that!
