March 7, 201214 yr Me and a few people were doing multiplayer with the icon and 19kt winds so we picked the silliest things in the world to try to land on.First it was a garage roofThen the cruise shipThen a hotel roofThen.. One by one we all successfully "hovered" onto Hilo Tower. Silly? Absolutely.. Fun? Oh yeah.. Took a ton of stick work to and throttle jockeying. I haven't had this much fun flying in ages. March 7, 201214 yr GJ, MS could make that challenge instead of silly landing on regular rwys. :D Lj. Prodanovic
March 7, 201214 yr Author And thanks to the practice in `hovering' I finally picked up this achievement. March 7, 201214 yr I have seen a c130 and b25 almost hovering and landing on an aircraft carrier in heavy wind. Perfectly possible. Free mind, young attitude.
March 7, 201214 yr One of my professors at uni had a story about how when learning to fly in real life he passed the tower in a Piper Cub... flying backwards. John-Alan Pascoe
March 7, 201214 yr First it was a garage roofLOL - I see FastCheetah702 is up to his antics again - I did a session with him the other day getting 4 of us settled onto the garage next to the cruise ship - it was a hoot.

I haven't had this much fun flying in ages.Actually the Maule Landing Challenge (5 or 6?) is this exact same situation except it's up by the observatories on Hawaii. 60+ knots winds and you have to hover land into the parking lot. It was a lot of fun. What's awesome though, is I found that the winds changed dramatically depending on where you were in relation to the terrain so MS actually modeled the wind flowing over terrain! Check it out for yourself, do the Maule landing challenge and approach the peak in an alsmot hover. Then slowly descend along the side of the peak and you'll see that as soon as you get below the tpeak on the downwind side you instantly get slammed into the ground. Noah Bryant
March 7, 201214 yr jtmedina - Was that by chance on the USS Ranger? Made a search and found one of them. it was on theUSS Forrestal. But I am almost sure it wasn't the only one. Saw too B-25s taking off from a CV and hanging in the air with a very high angle of attack and very slowly. It was impressive they didn't stall. Free mind, young attitude.
March 8, 201214 yr Rush1169 told me about this post.Great fun doing those stunts...I hv compiled a utube vid for some of the stunts. check it out.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_LDrgj5vCk&context=C42014f6ADvjVQa1PpcFMQX7T7wPtEBh5dqs6hVsvKPz1_IpsF7JI=Rooftop landing record is 5 planes on it...lol https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile

March 8, 201214 yr Author Yup.. That video shows the other side of the coin well.. MS Flight has a great flight engine under it. You can bounce around via VOR and enjoy the game as a great GA simulator or cut loose and have innocent fun also. Glad to see it. Flight Simming does not have to be super serious 24/7.. I do have to laugh though at using the canopy as a speed brake. :LMAO: ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD / 2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors
March 8, 201214 yr Silly, but very possible to hover with a light plane and strong windYou don't really need a light plane, just enough wind:
March 8, 201214 yr loved the video! really great stunts and a nice production! Is the video speeded up, I don't seem to get the same sensation of speed when I fly.Is it possible to set wind speed and direction? I can only find the weather themes and have not been able to choose the wind settings.
