March 18, 201214 yr Considering the number of agriculture strips in Hawaii and the presence of one of the more popular crop-dusters in the game already, I'm rather baffled that they didn't include any crop-dusting jobs.Wow - can you imagine an AgCat for download, along with a "crop dust the Islands" mission pack? Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!Ok, that was a little off topicArwen, Dustin, you've both shared some very good views in this topic - thank you. I really like the idea of putting an RPG twist on your pilot - as in gain experience to upgrade.I will also mention, Arwen, that Flight has taken a CONSIDERABLE chunk of time out of my Skyrim offline and BF3 online playtime. But I started on flight sims, and migrated to the other stuff...not so sure if "going the other way" to flight sims would be as easy a change...but Flight is a good step in that direction, I believe. As in making the entry point simpler (and definitely less costly) than in the past.
March 18, 201214 yr MS wants to induce the average player to join the dark side of force choosing the arcade approach instead of the sim one and I am quite happy some gaming site reviewers pointed that out. That's also strange that 100% of betatesters ( around 800 as far as I know ) voted the missing of an ATC the most wretched missing in the game but MS ignored the fact at all focusing on easy propellers sponsorship. ( and they are keeping on doing that BTW ). Why don't they post a small piece of image to guess what's it and this picture shows a RECENT controller radar to guess where the upcoming ATC will take place depending on the radar manufacturer ?I do not know what Flight can do but that's it is a matter of few week or months then we will know if we can drop it of if it will have a faint hope of simming.
March 18, 201214 yr I don't really like combat flight sims, I used to play them when I was younger. But sometimes I wish the multiplayer feature in Flight was a little more exciting.Maybe MS could add a DLC to enable some laser tag dogfight like so: I think this wouldn't jeopardize the 'E' rating when it's clear to everone that this feature is not to simulate killing any people. March 18, 201214 yr Commercial Member I dont think MS "ignored" the request for ATC. Im sure they heard and understand fully that request. But they cant simply snap there fingers and "make it so" instantly. To develop a full ATC pack will take a significant ammount of time. I also suggested laster tag dogfighting in the beta forums. I think its a good alternitive to having real combat, something many people in flight simming appose. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
March 18, 201214 yr Moderator I would think adding something like a career mode would be a fairly simple addition to do Well, ACES had already mapped out a really terrific "career mode" strategy for what was to have been FSvNext and I'm certain that it was archived along with all of the source files by the "clean up crew..." March 18, 201214 yr With the Live integration, the devs will get some incredible data on what the end users actually do with Flight, and I expect the content releases will begin to reflect that not very far down the road. So, theoretically speaking, if everyone persistently flew away from Hawaii towards say the U.S.A mainland or Australia, the devs would see that and think "Hey, these guys need some other counties to land in"? March 18, 201214 yr Just my random rambling, but one of the ways MS dropped the ball with gamers is the cut and paste bargain basement 2004 era scenery. The simple fact is that with so many flight arcade shooters out there that blow flights ground detail right out of the window with no effort at all, many gamers are looking around, saying "it's ok, I guess......" then going back to their beautifully rendered, state of the art game worlds.Flight should have at the very, very basement minimum been able to graphically compete with an older game like Wings of Prey.Simply put, if you pay attention to the ground at anyplace but certain selected showcase points, Flight often looks cheap as hell, compared to what's already out there. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. March 18, 201214 yr Commercial Member I dont think MS "ignored" the request for ATC. Im sure they heard and understand fully that request. But they cant simply snap there fingers and "make it so" instantly. To develop a full ATC pack will take a significant ammount of time. Or maybe they wont make it at all. Depends from how big part of Flight fliers would pay for ATC pack. Though ATC would be pretty boring as long as there is no other aicrafts flyng around. Also I would say that it was very obvious when they were making Flight that some people would like to have ATC, but they didnt add it to default game.Anyway its up to Microsoft now which direction Flight will develop. Will it stay as it is, go more towards form that would better attract many gamers who want more action, or go towards FS by adding ATC and other stuff. However I doubt that Flight will be ever turned to next FS, if with FS we mean some FSX kind of program. But if they add ATC and some areas that interest me I could think about buying some DLC for it and then using it when I want to fly over some good scenery with small plane.
March 18, 201214 yr Commercial Member No. ITs up to the customers what direction Flight takes. Will they buy the simple P-51 with no cockpit for cheep, or stick with the more complex Maule. Stuff like that will tell the team what direction the customers want to take Flight. Im sure in the future you will see more things like this, but understand that it takes MONTHS for a company to react to the customers will. Its not as simple as flipping a switch.
