Microsoft needs to add more fire to the flame or concept they thought would work (for gamers) but hasn't caught on yet. Can anybody tell me why an WWI mode was fine for FS4 but totally out the question for Flight? I know we around here don't think that but why do the developers think this? What's wrong with a Red Baron mission where you can actually shoot other planes down? What's wrong with a DLC that offers shooting missions that can be played via multiplayer?Another thing that would liven up Flight is a Carrier Battle group (not the one lone carrier we've seen in FS2000, FS9, FSX, and some add-on packages) but rather a whole battle group with AI moving on the ship as well as in the air and one has to do carrier traps while all this is going on. Have a few missions where you fly into an area (not San Francisco like Jet Fighter Three did) or should I say historical hot spot and do a few missions while your cover is flying over or you are the cover or your flight is the radar jammer.Things like this would bring in a whole lot of people in because all this content is focusing on the verying levels of Flight in the real world. If Flight is going to be a departure from the old let go of the sterile concept and liven things up a bit to attract more people. The Alaska idea was genius as Bush Flying is in a world within it's own, let's keep that kind of concept going. Carrier operations and WWI or WWII environments unique 'FLIGHT' experiences as well. What if FLIGHT was about the experience how great this would be as different DLC focused on just that, the different experiences one could have depending or the aircraft. Of course like the rest of you I want the whole world at some point, ATC, 3PD, the whole nine yards but just the same until then work with us... It's apparent the identity crisis Microsoft is still struggling with isn't working. If you going to make a sim make FS11 if not do some of the things I'm mentioning here to shake things up a bit...

Because the Flight team, or at least someone high on the pay scale is very proud of the "E" rating.

Great answer... :LMAO:We can just about end it with that. I'm hoping since they read these forums we can help them along with some ideas. They can rate the DLC but Flight in itself is not boxed so their not beholden to the 'E' rating. We'll hopefully not...

Most game developers take forums like this with a grain of salt.. As they should..

ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD /  2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors

I like those ideas, Dillon. I think those are excellentl ideas. I would love to see those features in Flight and I think more gamers would pay more attention to Flight if features like those get included. Or where included.I have no idea why Flight has chosen to cut so many decent features that were present in FSX out of Flight. Maybe in the future they will add ATC, AI, cars, etc to make the world a bit more alive. I hope so.I think your ideas would open up a whole lot of interest in Flight to gamers who may otherwise pass on Flight.I love the comment below which was posted by ptisinge, in another thread, in reponse to sibtiger's post - which I think sums up the problem Flight might have by not catering to the hardcore simmers and not really thinking what most gamers would find fun...sibtiger, on 14 March 2012 - 11:18 PM, said:That is exactly what Flight is mainly targeting at this point, not the casual gamers or every hardcore simmers.Ptisinge replied:Hmm, this would mean that they targeted a niche inside a niche. That's not the kind of statement that would make me confident about its future...

I have always found it very strange that at the same time that many reminisce with obvious fondness about their sim experience with A10 warthog, Stealth Fighter, Jetfighter and etc, there exists within the "serious" flight community a strong, sometimes nearly violent reaction to aerial combat.Reactions to additions (well done or not) that add any sort of combat capability to FSX for instance, are often greeted with the type of horror one would expect to encounter in Galileos time to blasphemous speech. Indeed, an admission of having played and enjoyed Combat Flight simulator (seldom mentioned, like an uncle with a criminal past) is frequently made only with some mild sense of apology.Much as the things you suggested might be welcomed by the rest of the world, the resulting howls of betrayal on dedicated flight forums would likely be even more outrageous than it is now. Already, nearly any thread mentioning Flight is crashed by people carrying personal gloomy thunderstorms, and honestly, if I was not part of the community myself, I would be thinking at this point that flight simmers have issues.

All simmers do. ARMA forums are the same - you should have seen the storm when they announced that Arma 3 will be set in the future :)

Hawaii!

my thought is that Microsoft might think that would be spreading the team they have too thin...if the team is working on civilian DLC/aircraft, maybe the challenge of creating a carrier group, semi-realistically putting hit detection/aircraft damage in, or coming up with military aircraft might be more than they can realistically/successfully accomplish now?another thought is they don't want Fliight to be a "Jack of all trades" - they (at this time) want to stick with the initial concept, and see how it works?with military aviation, they would also be going up against several very good military sims now on the PC - and console games like Birds of Prey or Wings of Steel?just a few thoughts, with no idea as to what Microsoft's end game is in regards to Flight...I would be happy if the continue down the current road of "low and slow", but I may be a minority, and I know my purchases of DLC won't keep the sim going without other people buying into it too!

Yes, you are right and I was unclear. I expect such arguments on dedicated forums, but it is at the point where I can't go anywhere on the web that mentions flight that does not get crashed with bitter statements, and now I have started encountering people trolling the game itself and just repeating over and over "this sucks, get FSX" until they get booted or hooted. It's getting really, really old, and the players yesterday were like "******* Christ, what is with those guys?"I am just pre-cringing at the reaction if Ms ever tried this. Safer might be to do like they did before and issue a separate package named Combat Flight, or something.

Who cares what the simmers think, it's supposed to be about the gamers right?Besides many simmers are going to bad mouth it no matter what MS does. It was decided long ago we aren't the target market so why not take the gloves off and make this thing really special. Who knows with enough support we'd all get what we want including a sizable profit for Microsoft.

With all due respect, these are just things that you think would be fun in the game. I have no interest in anything that you mentioned. See how that works? Everybody wants something a little bit different, and unfortunately, not everybody can get what they want.

I actually want FS11 but since their (Microsoft) going for gamers this is something I know would get their attention. What is your recommendation to attract gamers? :Nerd:

Personally I think that adding combat to Flight would be a really bad idea. Unless Flight was designed to handle combat, adding it as an after thought would likely eat up way too many resources . . . and I would MUCH rather have resources consumed by ATC, AI traffic, and Real World Weather.During the beta a number of us suggested expanding the Career part of the game (Job Board), so that pilots earn cash from their customers, which they spend for fuel, maintenance, upgrades (like GPS), new planes, etc. That would sort of give gamers a campaign mode.

Something to do in multiplayer is essential but i'm fed up shooting things in the face. How about paintball, cockpit only view only and you got to blackout peeps canopy, they crash, you win.Lazer tag, someone is "IT" , you shoot another player to make them "IT", other players must fly within say 3nm to earn points, while you are "IT" you lose points. Also, stunt flying needs a multiplayer element. Climbing race, 4 players start on the same runway, race to 3k feet and back to land back on the same runway without killing eachother.Loads of things could be done to spice up multiplayer.
