Bouncing turbine Duke help

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me before I start throwing myself against the wall! I have had my turbine Duke for a couple of weeks now and have become exasperated at my inability to eradicate the dreadful bouncing in the cockpit on landing. At first I imagined it was Ezdok playing up, but after turning down all the parameters I still get a massive bouncing in the cockpit on landing. It's as though me, the pilot, is bouncing on a balloon on touch down. I also thought that it was somehow built into the aircraft's cfg, if so can anyone advise. It is not improper approaches, as the bouncing occurs with any soft landing between 73-80kts. Besides, I have none of the problem with the piston version. I have also copied over the Ezdok effects values from the piston version and imported them into the turbine version, but with absolutely no difference whatsoever. Does anyone else experience this? Help as always, appreciated fellas, cheers.

Did you try restoring aircraft in EZCA that may help? Wayne

I don't run EZDOK and It is not an problem I have had with the Duke...If you globally disable EZDOK completely and try again, do you still have the issue?

Cheers!

Have you tried changing the effect in the configuration panel for the B60T?Andrew

Howard,Is this happening at all your airports? The reason I ask is because I was having the same issues (actually, I still do but to a lesser extent) a year ago with a previous computer build and FSX installation. I, too, initially thought EZdok might be the culprit (maybe it still is in combination with others) but here's what was happening to me.It only seemed to happen when I was flying in Orbx scenery, mostly, 1S2 (Darrington) although I did notice it at a few others in that area. I love the challenge of taking of and landing on 28 and making a tight left-hand pattern being careful to avoid the rocks. I was doing this over and over again and getting that bounce as I was rolling out after each landing. Sometimes I would actually stop the AC, park the brakes and then just bounce up and down a few times. What I noticed was that this bounce was occurring just as the ground textures were refreshing, at least that's what I thought was going on. I played around with the mesh resolution setting moving the slider from 5cm to 10cm and the problem stopped. When I went back to 5cm it started again. It was such a unique problem happening at only a few Orbx airports that I didn't think much about it after that. It may not be the same situation your experiencing but before you spend too much time troubleshooting EZCA, move those sliders around first and see if that changes anything. I'd be curious.

What is being described reminds me of the effect when taxiing over grass, gravel, runway overrun areas, etc. It's a long shot, but can you replicate the issue at all airfields and surface types?

Cheers, nope, tried disabling globally and it still happens!

Andrew, it doesn't happen in the Piston version only the turbine. I thought I'd be clever so I imported the Ezdok effects from the piston to the turbine, but hey... still no difference

Yup, happens at all ariports on different runways. I tried changing the mesh res but guess what, no change!

Hi Zach, sure, as I mentioned above, it happens on all types of surfaces at different airports or grass strips.I'm at a loss. I was hoping one of the smart guys could come along and say "Oh, I know what that is...!" Sheesh, I hate reinstalling, but I guess that's what I'm going to have to try...

Sorry Howard. Starting from scratch always allows me to streamline my installation, though.I've started a new ultra nerdy habit of logging, in my notebook inside my desk, any new changes made to FSX/Windows. That includes new add-on installations, updates to existing add-ons, driver installations, Windows updates, etc. Hasn't come in handy so far, but maybe it will eventually.

Can you look into the config tool of the turbine version and disable the Realview element? Maybe that's what causes the trouble for you.

Do you have both accu-feel and EZdok. When I got accu-feel all my lighter planes felt like they were in a blender with both running.Accu-feel has some physic settings also Shock Absorption is one Both my Dukes still bounce a lot but some less.

Howard..This is not something you doing wrong. this is verson 1.2. It is part of the new model. even with the best of greasers you will see this effect. It is an effect coded into the new model. that is why you dont see it in the Piston duke. I also do not like the effect and have taken it up with Rob of realair to change it so that the user can switch the effect maybe on/off in the config utility as there are many that like it but also many that dont like it.. best solution is to have the effect but at least couple it with the type of landing.. greasers and there should not be any notable bouncing, hard landings and your head should hit the cockpit panel. Currently it is one effect immaterial of how good the landing is.My solution was to uninstall the duke version 1.2 and only have version 1.1 on my machine. Then it is the same as he piston dukeSo please dont let other people try and lead you on a wild goose chase.. It is not something you doing wrong and there is nothing wrong with the install version 1.2. It actually does everything it is supposed to so.I will send you email on how to easily get back to version 1.1 as that is the only solution to get rid of the "bouncing" effect so stop chasing wild hares.Johan

One thing I just tested I turned off my EZdok effects and no bouncing at all in either duke. I just got EZdok so I don't knowenough about it to know if you can adjust its effects. The effects are RND,DHM andCR. looks like the manuel says you can adjust them if the above poster help does not work you may have to go this route.

Brucethen you have not upgraded your turbine duke to version 1.2the effect is not available in either piston duke or turbine duke 1.0 and 1.1. Only version 1.2 have this "landing/bounching" effectSee the real air site for details of his added effect added in version 1.2http://www.realairsi...age=duket10_v12• Landing touchdown camera view effect added. There has a lot been written about this bounching effect in the past. Wanna read more: google is your friend.. or use search button on avsim

I only now notice you have only recently bought the Duke turbine and the resent download already included the version 1.2 upgrade so you will not have the original version 1.0 and 1.1 so I will not be able to help unless you have the original installer. SorryThere is no way to remove the camera effect as it is part of the model in version 1.2.Maybe Rob can give us a version 1.2a that is the same as version 1.2 but without the camera effect.
