March 20, 201214 yr Hello, Dudes!I want to land B737 by depict method. I don't want to use Precision and non-precision methods of approach. So please tell me by depicting, on how much altitude, speed, distance and flaps may I easily land a Boeing 737?Regards,Happpy.
March 20, 201214 yr What is a depict method? Lemme try this as simple as it gets: about 6000 pounds of fuel, about 145knots, full flaps, I wouldn't know what to say about altitude, maybe just start at 3000ft AGL, and some 10-15nm from the touchdown zone to be able to nicely put it on for the landing.Notice that this is not the right way to land an airliner.
March 20, 201214 yr Practice. Then practice some more. Then when your done. practice more. "Ya practice like ya play" ArDee

Thanks! This is the depicted method you've told me according to Wikipedia, but I may be wrong too. This is what Wikipedia is saying: There are two main classifications for IAPs: precision and non-precision. A third type of approach, available only to IFR flights but not considered a true instrument approach, is discussed below. Precision approaches utilize both lateral (localizer) and vertical (glideslope) information. Non-precision approaches provide lateral course information only.[2]The publications depicting instrument approach procedures are called Terminal Procedures, but are commonly referred to by pilots as approach plates. These documents graphically depict the specific procedure to be followed by a pilot for a particular type of approach to a given runway. They depict prescribed altitudes and headings to be flown, as well as obstacles, terrain, and potentially conflicting airspace. In addition, they also list missed approach procedures and commonly used radio frequencies. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrument_approachLast thing is that what do you take means by Approach? What is the definition of Approach in easy words? Is is landing to the runway? Is it reaching near runway or Is it the right alignment with the runway or something else? Can you teach me by any diagram?
March 20, 201214 yr Seemingly you are missing the basic basics of flying. Please PLEASE go through the Flying School in FSX. We can't start teaching you flying here.Approach - a phase from IAF (Initial Approach Fix) until FAF (Final Approach Fix), after that comes Landing I believe. It looks like you never learned basics of how to properly land a Cessna 172. Almost everyone can do it, but not everyone can do it right.

Sorry I'm first time flying B737 so that's why this is happening. Now another problem:You say 3000 AGL is good altitude. But problem is that Autopilot doesn't itself reaches at 3000 or 4000ft. Why? While I increase speed from 210-250 knots and it reaches to that and even where I want but why Altitude doesn't? Altitude remain usually 2700 and not increase. I don't know the reason. You can see picture below. If there is any error then please tell me.You can see in image that I increased my speed up to 301knots but Altitude still remains as 2780ft. It doesn't increase at any speed. Why? Please tell me I would be grateful to you.
March 20, 201214 yr Man you are little angry.Yeah I am, have an upcoming surgery coming tomorrow morning. So I'm doing my best helping you. Nothing better to do in the hospital...Sorry I'm first time flying B737 so that's why this is happening.Yes, first time. And apparently first time flying at all? Please just tell me why won't you go through the flying school, learning all the basics of exact things you are asking me?But problem is that Autopilot doesn't itself reaches at 3000 or 4000ft. Why?Because you have ALT HOLD turned on? Increase vertical speed I think... I never fly darned default aircraft, they don't resemble any reality.
March 20, 201214 yr @ Autopilot,He's not angry and it's rude of you to say that, when he's trying to help.No offence, and clearly English is not your first language, (if you do not know what "Approach" means), but you need to go into the Flight School forums section and learn the basics. March 21, 201214 yr It can be SO much stuff... QNH, QFE, you're not setting the proper VSpeed (are you setting it at all?). Also, 300KIAS at 3500ft doesn't sound good to me AT ALL. Try approaching at ~200KIAS then start reducing speed to about ~130KIAS with full flaps for landing. These of course are just approximate values, it depends on so much stuff you just can't have it covered in a forum in 10 minutes :) CASE: Fractal Terra Silver CPU: AMD R5 7800X3D 5.0Ghz RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 GPU: nVidia RTX 4070 Ti SUPER · SSDs: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB M.2 PCIe · PNY XLR8 CS3040 2TB M.2 PCIe · VIDEO: LG-32GK650F QHD 32" 144Hz FREE/G-SYNC · MISC: Thrustmaster TCA Airbus Joystick + Throttle Quadrant · MSFS2024 · Windows 11
March 21, 201214 yr Might I suggest you park up the default aircraft and save for a decent add-on like iFly or PMDG 737 (NGX). Default jets are simplified and will provide you with unrealistic "training".In the meantime start by learning the basics, try the Cessna 172. In fact if you go here ( http://www.flyaoamedia.com/aviator-90/ ) you can get great training for free that is equivalent to the PPL syllabus in many ways . Be very patient, give yourself time to climb the learning curve. Flying GA is more fun than you think especially when you are really learning the (very important) basic techniques in flying.I started out on FS98 by jumping into the default 737-400 and I can confirm that it was a mistake. The more I developed my hobby I realized I had to go back and start at the beginning. I'm simply suggesting that you do the same to avoid wasting your own time.BTW ( and I am not angry), jumping in here asking people to teach you to fly a plane by asking a few "very heavy" questions won't get you you the information you need. And if it did it would only lead you to ask more questions such is the complex nature of this "game". Anthony O'Brien
March 23, 201214 yr The beauty of FS is that it is a game. If you want to fly a 737 and can't fly a Cessna you can. But, it is much more difficult if you haven't mastered the basics of flight. To your specific issue:1 - 300 KTS is way too fast for that low and close to approach. I would recommend 200 KTS, then slow to 140-150 on approach. 2 - The reason you aren't climbing above 2,700 is you have no vertical speed mode selected. You have ALT HOLD selected, which holds your current altitude. With 3,000 set in the ALT window, push the VS button and turn the VS to 1,500 - 2,000. When it reached 3,000 it will switch to ALT HOLD. Good luck and welcome! Eddie EddieKABQ
