March 20, 201214 yr Something funny between all those so serious Flight discussions !I use the FRENCH version of Flight and flew the "Captain Cook" aerocache."Captain Cook" is translated to "Capitaine Culinaire" , which means "Captain CULINARY" !I landed nearby and walked around the monument. You can even walk on the water with Flight!I signaled the "Capitaine Culinaire" to MS and got the following answer:"Ha that's awesome, as a former chef, I would like to say "thanks for letting us know"... now I should decide if that is amusing enough to leave in or I should put it on the docket to get fixed :)Thanks,Loki, Microsoft Flight Team."Guy
March 20, 201214 yr Well, in english the aerocache is called "Culinary Captain", so it's a pun and a clue at the same time. Do you mean that you call Cook "Capitaine Culinaire" in french, or that it's called that in the game?
March 20, 201214 yr Author So in english it's called "Culinary Captain" also !I had thought that the aerocache was called "Captain Cook" in english and that the french traduction was wrong .And in their answer MS seemd to acknowledge this!In any case "capitaine Culinaire" sounds very funny !Guy
March 20, 201214 yr I have to admit, I flew that and spent at least an hour trying to find the cache, without success. Your image show it down by the water, Bing said I should look along the road, so that's where I was searching. I'll have to look again.
March 20, 201214 yr Author You are not the only one!I searched also a very long tiime!I think, what you get with Bing is the location of a hotel with the same name.Search in google map for "captain cook monument hawai" !Guy
March 20, 201214 yr Yeah that cache is probably the hardest to find in the game. It's activation perimeter is very short.. Once I found it I looked around and said "******* I must've flown past here 30 times" ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD / 2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors
March 20, 201214 yr You gotta fly LOW to get that thing! I found it easily enough, without doing an aerocache hunt, then had to buzz the monument to get it to register.French puts the adjective after the noun it modifies, so while the word order is right, it's also right for the man's title and name. I guess in French it's a double pun!I often thought it was amusing that a man named Captain Cook would name that group of islands "The Sandwich Islands."Hook Larry Hookins Oh! March 21, 201214 yr I don't think I've actually used Bing to find any of these. I click the button, look at the useless results, then Google it.
March 21, 201214 yr And its just behind that hill too :) But I've found it anyways. I think one of the best helps to find Aerocahes are Bing or Google's Maps. Happy Flying, Clem Wu Beta Tester for OZx, Iris Simulations and Shade.
March 21, 201214 yr I don't think I've actually used Bing to find any of these. I click the button, look at the useless results, then Google it. :LMAO: Same exact thing I've done. March 21, 201214 yr I found the "Captain Cook Monument" on the shore of Kealakekua Bay. I was searching the coast line from the south, passed over a farm silo " strange" but a good landmark and was just about to turn back south thinking I missed it and there it was. I did not use the Hunter and was flying the Icon really low and slow.
