March 29, 201214 yr thanx devon. I will almost due anything. almost.so anyway, win7 is up to date, so NET should be too, right? Audio drivers? Must check but DX and PhysX are brand new, possibly need to check Visual C++. And please don't let me check the integrity of the fight download, did this now maybe 20 times... but well, who knows. will give it a shot of course...I am trying to be optimistic, because overuse of driver cleaner can sometimes lead to funky side effects if something else accidentally gets wonked in the zeal to clean everything up. Random program crashes are the result, because for some reason NET on windows 7 seems vulnerable to this. Everything will appear to be ok, but then the weird crashes continue, and not just with FLIGHT.You can check by opening an elevated command prompt (admin privileges) and typing sfc /scannow then press Enter. If you just want to run a check without attempting a repair, type sfc /verifyonly and press Enter.Windows will do a quick check of windows file integrity. If SFC finds errors but could not fix something, then run the command again to see if it may be able to the next time. Sometimes it may take running the sfc /scannow command 3 or more times to completely fix everything that it's able to.If not, then you can attempt to run a System Restore using a point dated before problems began occurring to fix things. You might need to repeat System Restore until you find a older restore point that may work.Or you could just delete FLIGHT! Registry cleaning might help as well. Finally; an in-place re-installation could repair a seriously damaged windows (if necessary) when all else fails and the dreaded full reinstall is looming We are all connected..... March 29, 201214 yr This is part of a message I addressed to [email protected]. I am not waiting for an answer because I am not actuallly asking for support on any specific aspect of FLIGHT, but it was my contribution, so I hope, regarding what I really would like to ask for the near/medium range future of this GREAT flight gamulator :-)...==== Excerpt from my message follows... ====And now, to the - I hope - interesting part of my message :-)1) FLIGHT's Flight Model:It feels great already, and it's very easy to find out that FLIGHT must rely on fresh code in what concerns directly to flight physics. Many of the rather annoying bugs / limitations that plagued the successive versions of MSFS were ironed or solved, and FLIGHT, being marketed like a GAME, provides a very sound, educational and even serious physics model. I can only ask for two things, one directly concerning taildraggers, and two are already available in FLIGHT - the Stearman and the Maule - and the lack of a castoring tailwheel. This would make taildragger operations a lot more realistic and simple. The other aspect has to do with the total absence of an overstress model for the aircraft. While I can accept that there are rather simplistic damage models, I would like to see at least an overstress model just like the one we had for fs9/fsx, even if the user can easily fix his airplane with a simple keystroke. But damage due to stress, when the structure is exposed to higher than allowable g-forces, or the speed limits are overshoot, should be there, even if there is an option to turn it OFF like there was in fs9/fsx...2) ATC:I would at least like to have some sort of ATIS. Even in products like ELITE where the main aim is IFR proficiency, ATC is absent buit one can tune to the proper ATIS freq. where one is available and listen to the ATIS messages. This would be great to have in FLIGHT.3) ADD-ON Aircraft:I can think of many many suggestions, but I will ask simply for a twin, any twin, and a glider or motor-glider (the Stemme would be great!!!). Having light helicopter such as the R44 or even the good-old Bell47 would be great!!! Finaly, I would also suggest an hang-glider :-) and this continues to the next section...4) WEATHER:While there are noticeable updates/corrections to the MSFS9/X weather models, and these are looking just GREAT!, from both the physics and visual standpoints, if a glider/hang-glider are going to be included in future DLCs then it would be great to have a better thermal/mountain lift model than the one provided by FSX. Thermals and mountain updrafts are poorly modelled in FSX, but there have been a few dedicated users who changed this scenario, with CumulusX! being most probably the most importantcontribution to turn MSFS's weather into something compatible with realistic soaring scenarios/adventures. Finally, and although this sort of belongs to point 3) above, I would really like to see just a few, preferably none, "cockpitless" aircraft in DLCs... I really don't think it is a good idea, unless you make them R/C models :-) I think at least few thousands of these kind of suggestion flooded MS but MS keeps on ignoring them and it will keep on ignoring these features as Joshua Howard clearly stated. We are all on the same boat mate
March 29, 201214 yr sfc /scannow then press Enterthanks devon. good advice. will try that next thing at home Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
March 29, 201214 yr typing sfc /scannow then press Enterthat did not help, all fine:Registry cleaning might help as welhow would I do that? is there an app tool for this? March 29, 201214 yr how would I do that? is there an app tool for this?Could try CCleaner or you could get your hands dirty with regedit (to start click run then type regedit)
March 29, 201214 yr how would I do that? is there an app tool for this?Phil: Don't mess with regedit for a registry clean up unless you really know what you are doing.(I mean expert with 100% knowledge of the registry internals for such purpose)Let a formal app do it. There are several registry cleaners on the market. I use PCTools Registry Mechanic. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
March 29, 201214 yr Phil: Don't mess with regedit unless you really know what you are doing.Let a formal app do it. There are several registry cleaners on the market. I use PCTools Registry Mechanic.Regarding regit: +1 - very dangerous territory in there if one does not know exactly what they are doing. No " confirm changes or deletions" prompts, once it's done it's done.I myself am not a big believer in 3rd party registry cleaners either, I think many of them are more like snake oil, but that is just my personal opinion. I have been running this Windows 7 64 bit for almost 3 years I think, and have yet to have an issue with it < knocking on wood>. Never had a system freeze, nor a CTD in FSX, or Flight, or any of my other sims. For the most part, I think Windows 7 does a very good job keeping the registry in order. However if one has to use one, I believe CCleaner is a fairly common one that is relatively benign in behavior. I did use to use it in Windows XP.Whatever you use, just make sure you look very closely at what it will remove, and if any question in your mind, do not remove it!Hope you get your issue resolved soon, Don B
March 29, 201214 yr <removed phrase>The tool we use has the option to do a registry backup before applying any changes, and also has selective undo (most other apps. do this too).Even a brand new Windows 7 installation + its respective windows update patches can bring up hundreds of registry “problems” that slowly but surely downgrade a system performance and create conflicts. Now when you start adding apps (Office or whatever), that is when the real fun begins. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
March 29, 201214 yr Even a brand new Windows 7 installation + its respective windows update patches can bring up hundreds of registry “problems” that slowly but surely downgrade a system performance and create conflicts.I am sure you are correct, I myself would be hesitant on my machine mainly due to how very stable the OS and programs have been on it. And it does seem as snappy today as when I installed it... now if I were having some major problems, then certainly I would consider trying before reformatting and reinstalling windows, but it would be one of the latter things I would try. Thanks, Don B
March 30, 201214 yr Go to http://www.filehippo.com/ to search for CCleaner. Always back up the registry when it asks you to before attempting a registry repair. By the way, there is a ton of free pc stuff at that site. Always one to keep in your bookmarks. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically......
