March 27, 201214 yr For those who have not received any response from the msflight@ address - do not be put off - the emails do get through and they are being read - I happen to know that at least one member of the team is working the email accounts well after midnight Seattle time. However the account is probably getting thousands of emails a week and that does take some effort to get though ;) Jon ------- Microsoft Flight Sim MVP Airport Design Editor FSDeveloper.com
March 27, 201214 yr I happen to know that at least one member of the team is working the email accounts well after midnightha, we know that is steve ballmer after he sent the email posted above. seriously, thanks for the heads up. I can imagine they get thousands. just sent them one yesterday myself with my issues I still face after now 150hrs flight time. it works for days and then suddenly all is broken, I see corrupted installations and flight.exe CTDs. after a repair I also installed the latest nvidia driver 210.x, I was then able to start and run flight w/o problems. noticed when looking at the event viewer that the majority of CTDs is caused by 2 or 3 different nvidia modules. maybe the driver update helped? will know after some days of flying, I guess Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
March 27, 201214 yr Phil,Have you ever completely cleaned out your Nvidia drivers prior to clean installing new ones, ie using Driver Sweeper? Don B
March 27, 201214 yr completely cleanedyes, I strongly believe that I did that end of last year when I installed my new 560TI. Since then I use the clean install option of the nvidia drivers which they thankfully added recently. so I should be fine.but that Flight ran yesterday again after the driver update could be pure coincidence. as I said, usually a repair together with some reboots help to get Flight up and running again for yet another 3-4 days. will keep a close look on this. Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
March 27, 201214 yr Ok , sounds like you should at least have a clean driver install. That clean install option Nvidia now offers, I understand does a good job on it's own. I don't use Driver Sweeper anywhere near like I used to as I too typically choose the clean install option.Dang shame though if you have to do a repair and reboots every few days to get Flight to run, something sure sounds amiss if that continues to be the case. That would drive me nuts. Course I have probably jinxed myself now. I have sitting here close by to me, a new EVGA GTX 560 Ti 2gb card, guess probably the same as you have, I received from NewEgg last week. I will be putting in about any day now... be my luck something similar would start happening to me as well... Don B
March 27, 201214 yr guess probably the same as you haveyep, the very same. good luck with it. it is an awesome card and I do not want to miss it.just one note since I ran into this: the card was not recognized under win7 as 560TI (showing me some standard vga adapter with crappy 640xwhatever resolution only) until some nice folks at EVGA sent me a link to a BIOS update. Once that was done the card worked. keep this in mind in case it should not work out of the box as expected. I even thought that my PSU could be too week when I got the above error although I made sure that it is capable to run the card. nonetheless some folks advised to get a new PSU, luckily I did not do that and just the BIOS update instead.EDIT: link to the BIOS updates, probably the last 560TI one with 2GB, double check whether that is correct and whether an update is needed anyway: http://www.evga.com/....aspx?m=1034790EDIT2: just realize the date for that BIOS is now from FEB 2012, may want to check to an another update myself then. OTOH do not touch a running system. Tempting. March 27, 201214 yr Thanks for the info and the link Phil, I will be sure after I get it installed and see if my card has the most up to date bios.Much apprecitated, I would probably not have thought of that one! Don B
March 27, 201214 yr I would probably not have thought of that oneI bet you would once you saw flight with a 640x480 resolution in 24 colors :-) Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
March 27, 201214 yr Call me crazy, but I don't really want dynamic damage modeling. That just seems like it would further incentivize the already-too-common Kamikazes.MP has been blamed on why there is no AI aircraft in Flight, or ATC, now it is given as a reason for not modeling damage. If that is all true, clearly we need to get rid of MP . . . since it is crippling the rest of Flight. ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
March 27, 201214 yr If that is all true, clearly we need to get rid of MP . . . since it is crippling the rest of Flight.Surely they can add those other things and still account for multiplayer, one way or the other. I would think more likely there are no AI, or ATC in Flight, due to them simply not putting them in as of yet for this first release. As can be seen within the program itself along with it's files, there are parts that obviously provide the baseline for adding things down the road. It would be interesting to know first hand their take on this, ie at what point do they go ahead with adding say AI, or in fact is it already on the roadmap to add with a certain dlc release... or do they even know at this point in the product development...I do not do the MP thing, but from some of the videos posted here and the threads regarding it, MP seems to be a pretty bright spot for Flight... Don B
March 27, 201214 yr MP seems to be a pretty bright spot for Flight..yep.and I see no point why atc or ai could not be included, I mean the MS server knows who is where on the map, it may be only tricky to code that other MP players are also taken into account when offering ATC. MS could actually offer ATC in the cloud! Just imagine what fun it could be if they did ATC right and all MP pilots have to follow the same ATC. I would not care about kamikazes so much, these would not be friend with me any much longer and I tend to fly only with those 'friends' who I know have an interest in group flying or maybe stunt flying but bringing anybody down on purpose. March 27, 201214 yr My previous reply was just a response to all to posts that use MP as an excuse for Flight not having AI, ATC, and (now) damage modeling. I very seldom use MP, but I do not honestly want it to be removed, since others seem to enjoy it (and it can be a great training tool). ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
March 27, 201214 yr Call me crazy, but I don't really want dynamic damage modeling. That just seems like it would further incentivize the already-too-common Kamikazes.Too late!! Another plane can already take you out, realistic damage modeled or not.I have had a scenario in my head for weeks where some HC simmer after flying in from Alaska all night with scrupulous adherence to all real life procedures is knocked out of the sky by some little girl yelling "Wheeeeeeeeeeeee.....!!!" Like the Geico pig as he comes in on final!!!! :LMAO:Perhaps locked single player with atc........?In the meantime, I was in a game with some people recently, a few of whom where of the dive bombing variety. Since I was just sightseeing anyway, I yelled "Bumper planes!!!" which caused an instant fur-ball of swooping whirling and diving planes. Was it unrealistic? Why yes. Yes it was.Was it exciting and fun trying to keep from being rammed? Also yes............If you are out in the public, sometimes you have to just go with the flow and have fun; ending up in a conga line even when that was far from your original intent for the evening. Tempting.Hey Phil,Just a sidenote: I was looking at the EVGA forums and came across this sticky post - you may have seen it already as well...Anyways it has some excellent advice on installing Nvidia graphics drivers to help insure there are no " cobwebs" left behind, especially with the later drivers above the 260 and up series of drivers.http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1174372While this is on the EVGA forums, it would certainly apply to any Nvidia graphics cards as well.I think oftentimes folks with ctd issues when running 3d games - certainly not necessarily saying this is it in your case - but oftentimes a lot of the troubles can be avoided by installing the grapics drivers properly. For instance, the roll back driver option in Win 7, or delete driver option from device manager, no longer works properly with the later drivers - lot of cobwebs get left that can cause issue - I have never used it that way, have always uninstalled from control panel - I pretty much have been doing my graphic driver installs like this post states, may be a big part of why I don't see these ctd or program crash issues.I would highly recommend any Nvidia card owner take a few minutes to look over this post - excellent advice in there....
