Flight outstanding new features

Featured Replies

I said it in my first post in this thread but I'm going to elaborate: WIND.I know it's not real-time or dynamically variable (I reckon that's coming soon) the weather effects, particularly the wind-shear effect when flying through and around thunderstorms are very good.I have been caught in a nasty squall/edge of storm cell in a PA-28 and MS have pretty much nailed that one, for me, anyhow. It's brilliant. It really forces you to engage with the controls in a way I don't think I have in yet FSX, and I run ASE2012 and REX before that..It did wind, and turbulence and I know it can be played with and enhanced with FSUIPC, but this is really good, fun, hard flying out of the box..Perhaops it's the plane physics, perhaps the wind physics, perhaps both..Who cares?Love it! More weather, please!!jake

In a thread where the discussion is a pleasant, lighthearted sharing of features we have enjoyed in Flight, why do you feel it necessary to be contrary? If you haven't enjoyed Flight, or experienced the 'fun'... then why begrudge those that have, and do...?Why is it skin off your nose?
Sry, I just expressed my opinion, if you do not agree, or do not like what I wrote, feel free to vote down my post.

g_precentralis: You seem to only have “fun “with FSX,. That’s fine with me. Many of us can have fun with both FSX and Flight. Then let us have fun,Consider the title of this thread, “Flight outstanding new features” then why are you wasting your time in it.I fail to see your points; unless you have an agenda against Flight and the people enjoying it.There is no need for voting you down. Your opinions are valid, but this is not the thread for them either. You can always start a new thread for that, and see where it goes.

Oh please don't , we all know < both sides of the coin> where those threads ago.I see no problem with his voicing dissapointment and critiquing the sim, just need to be aware of when, how ,and who. There are very productive ways to do it - I think some of the perception of discontent for serious simmers we get from JH, has stemmed from so much angst being expressed in , well, not so elequant terms... slamming basically and slamming hard.

Apparently, you missed to read many of my posts in avsim-flight subforum.First of all I do not have fun only with FSX, Im active in many simulation comunities. Why would you think I do not let you to have fun with flight? What do you think, we should write just nice things here about flight. im sorry but that doesnt make any sense.I'm feeling free to waste my time on whatever I want, but I really appreciate your care for my time :smile:At least, I have nothing about flight, actually, I like it. You know when we care about something we usually tend to constructively criticize that with hope to make it better.

g_precentralis:Please tell me what "sims" you tried before flight?New map is just console style of UI, nothing less, nothing more. Is it improvement? For me is not, for someone else it is... thats just fine.Whats wrong with fun ? Just one thing: its a feeling, its not same for everyone. For someone its fun to pee in pool, for someone its not.Its easy to achieve smoothness in empty world. So it was actually trade off.Its not a game, its a software. But its not simulator neither, its a engine suitable for some other companies to make simulators.Well, I really want to see wet stain on seat when I do not land for pee-pause.
Would you be kind enough to explain me what the above comments have to do with this topic: “Flight outstanding new features”, and in which ways they contributed to "constructively criticize that with hope to make it better"?

Come on, people stated that "fun is the flight's outstanding new feature" . Are you kidding me? like we were all said before Flight came out and brought light in our gloomily lives. Give me a break.I think whole thread is just redundant as flight do not offer any "new" feature, its all been seen before in dozen of games and simulators and softwares, call it whatever you like.Tell me just one brand new thing you "never" seen before?

Of course you know the answer to this Ramon...

It is redundant to continue bashing FLIGHT in one form or another. You don't like it. We get it. Ok? How tiresome must these posts be? and a :Shame On You:Also these neanderthal-like arguments e.g. "FSX is not a game but FLIGHT is a game". :Silly: oh and btw :Talk to the Hand:
Sounds to me more like the proverbial "setup". :Raised Eyebrow:
Sure absolutely possible to have a good discussion here... my reply was essentially tongue-in-cheek. But also possible for more FLIGHT bashing.
Or a can-of-worms thread...Or a Until-Tom-comes-along-and-turns-on-the-lights-in-the-hopes-that-the-cockroach-commenting-stops thread...For the love of Pete... how much longer?
Tell me just one brand new thing you "never" seen before?
You are correct; nothing is brand new in Flight. But Fight has achieved one thing. I brought back the joy of flying to me.It might or not be an "outstanding new feature", but I am thankful for that.I had long forgotten the fun I had using the first Flight Simulators. (Since FS2 for me, back in 1986).I have enjoyed them all. Up to 12 hour transcontinental flights, by the book, (no skipping,no slew, not faster times), and frequently played with friends switching seats. So lets enjoy them alllCheers.Note: Ozzie, I saw your post after I posted mine.

I can answer in your way, "waaay to many", but I'm going to count real planes I "tried" with hope you will do same for sims :)Cessna 152, 172, utva 75, piper seneca.although that is very subjective feeling, I can say that for me, DCS A-10, K-50 and some FSX addons creates more immersive sensation than Flight.
OK, fair enough. Not too different than me for real planes... Most of my logged left-seat time is in 172s, with a little 152 time and a handful of flights in a Piper Cherokee and a J-3 Cub. I've also made a few "once or twice" right-seat flights in an O-2A, a Cessna 402, a Beech Skipper, a Grumman Traveler and probably a couple of others I'm not remembering. My only "large aircraft" experience is about 30 hours on the yoke of P-3C Orions, but that's unlogged as I was technically a "passenger" and certainly not officially qualified to be in that seat. I wasn't allowed to do any take-offs or landings, but made some long overwater international flights (Okinawa to Thailand, or Diego Garcia to Oman, for example) in the left seat the whole time we were above 10k'.Sim-wise... Every version of MSFS from the dawn of time (I think), although my FS9 and FSX time was quite limited, at best. I tried to stay interested but the magic just wasn't there for me anymore. I will note that I didn't have access to any 3PD add-ons for FS9 or FSX, which certainly could have made a difference in my perception. Also extensive time in lots of older combat flight-sims. I haven't tried either of the DCS sims, but my interest in them is quite high after watching YouTube vidoes of them over the past few weeks. Of course, not having flown anything remotely like an A-10 or any type of helicoper, I don't consider myself qualified to judge their flight models or feeling of realism. Both of them are on my Amazon Wish-List, though, if anyone is feeling generous. :Praying:

Do you really not feel that it is possible for people to find a well-orchestrated combination of improvements (some of them dramatic) to pre-existing features just as, if not more, compelling and valuable than new features? Or even some of the features that were removed?
