Flight outstanding new features

Featured Replies

The only OUTSTANDING new feature in my book are the automated checklists. Perfect for beginners and veterans alike. Sad too see such a great feature not being used to learn flying in a more realistic way.

p.s. Sorry, OT but Bill, what do you model? Excuse my ignorance (and nosiness)..
What do I model? Honestly, a little bit of everything from light GA such as Liberty XL2, DA42, SR20/22, to some military such as T-38A/C, to biz jets, CJ1+, CII, et cetra... I even do some scenery building for my own use mostly. :Nerd:

Flights MAP page is a great feature and most folks dont even notice it. It is clever and slick also.It is the heart of the UI and so so simple and intuitive to use.Sound in Flight is a vast improvement to anything that has gone before. The whole concept of being " Live " is the most outstanding new feature and makes updating etc so simple and fast.If people can't see the new outstanding features then they must not be looking very closely. :Hypnotized:Fred.

Most of the big features have been mentioned, so I'll go for a small and oft unrecognized one: Sloped runways

John-Alan Pascoe

Aren't the runways are sloped and not just sloped, but humped in some cases? I could have sworn that they are.

some are like humped ramps, and some of the bush strips dotted around are very short..i love this aspect actually.. totally forgot, thanks for reminding me..At last! sloped runways..PNG pleeease :)bestjake

Flight proves the axiom that less is more. Besides that what is wrong with FUN?
Precisely!!From what I can see on this forum, there are a mighty lot of folks having some serious fun!And it has been out only what, little over two weeks? And NO huge and long threads, and multiple threads, on " how do I get this to run at an acceptable level" on my machine...Flight is no only FUN, but quite the breath of fresh air.

Smothness was not mentionned and I think it is one of the key factor for immersion..Dynamic lighting in the cockpit or real lighting effect from your landing beam that cast light on runways or scenery is also fine.Sound has already be mentionned and its a very good improvement..

P3D when its freezing in Quebec....well, that's most of the time...
C-GDXL based at CYQB for real flying when its warming up...

Contrary to some peoples wishfull thinking, Fsx is also a game! And not nearly as much fun factor built in.

The lighting effects are incredible. Autogen casts shadows, all of it, not just a few special items. Dusk and dawn are a true joy.Individual weather effects are outstanding, although in a few instances they could be integrated better: fair weather clouds, for exaple. Weather isn't always global, but can change over distance as in Isolated Thunderstorms.Cliff faces have believable texture. And streams running down them. The job board is a great feature. I was rolling dice to get a similar effect previously. Biplane sightseeing tours are a great excuse just to fly around and check stuff out, and you don't have to fly to just the two directed landmarks. Just watch for potential "emergency" landing spots between 15 and 30 minutes into the flight.Hook

I've spent the last 2 nights doing almost nothing BUT the biplane sightseeing tours... like you say, I just enjoy taking the scenic routes all over the islands in between the 2 landmarks... and I'm always scouting for a flat place to land, just in case... lol The only time I've gotten dinged, was when the route from one landmark to the other was over about 20nm of water, and of course, halfway across the woman decides she has to go... I wanted to barrel roll and dump her out...

I've been flying almost nothing but the biplane tours for several days. My highest score so far is 3950, with 30 landmarks visited on 3 islands in a bit over 4 hours. I've since discovered another landmark in the same area, and my next tour will be 31, without refueling. :DHook

Different people have different ways of having FUN. I personally do get some kind of good filling enjoyment after completing a flight in FSX with good 737 addon, when someone else would find it very boring. Flying around Hawaii with a carplane on the other hand is not fun to me, with A Cessna or similar maybe.

Having just recently - ahem - discovered how to get to jobs, thanks forum - I have to agree , I have been quite enjoying doing some of them here recently.I must say the biplane tours so far are my favorite - namely because I just love that old Stearman, and secondly for the sightseeing as well. I think I get more out of it than my passenger - pretty sure I know I do.

Silly question I am sure, how do you know first where these additional landmarks are, and how do you know they are landmarks?
