Is this Flight's parent?

Featured Replies

Not trying to start the old "Flight" is a gold coin game-- but watching this video of an old game, it sure seems similar to Flight-- from the "islands" theme, to the demanding female voiceover, to the "aerocache" things....

Flights tutorial missions werent that much more painful than those in FSX.

Oh, and the "balloons" in Flight that everyone was complaining about? Same exact mission in FSX.
People just love to moan because they feel like they are entitled to something. Because Flight did not meet their expectations, they find every little thing to complain about to make themselves feel better.

Lol, amazing how far we have come with technology regarding the graphics for video games on the pc - and consoles as well.Back in that day, those were probably some really " wow me " graphics.I have quite a number of shelved flight sims put away in the loft over my garage - some really great classics that I had many hours of entertainment with. Nice boxes, great large manuals along with aircraft documentation. Undoubtedly at that time, I was literally blown away by the great graphics of the sim.I bet if I were somewhow able to manage to install, and actually get running, some of those same titles on my system today, my first thought would be - are you kidding me, I actually liked that low level of graphics detail? LOL.

LOL, I know what you mean. One day I got to thinking about some of the great old sims I used to play, like US Navy Fighters '97 and Janes F15, so installed them. The graphics were so terrible I can't believe I used to think they were the greatest thing. Same thing happens with movies. Top Gun was cool when it came out, now its cheesy with pretty bad acting....

Those were two of my most favorites at that time - the Janes' sims especially I was a big fan of. US Navy Fighters was a lot of fun for me. I think it was the Janes F15 sim, that I got the deluxe collector's edition or something like that, came in a huge box with lots of documentation and a neat patch as well. Still have it up there in the loft, along with Janes F18, and two of my absolute very favorites - Longbow, and Longbow II.Ah the memories of those glory days.

... and then we should ask ourselves, what will simming be like in ten years time?

No kidding, that will be very intersesting if I live 10 more years, to see what it will be.

The only thing similar is the balloons. Otherwise two completely different tutorials!

These missions do the same thing in flight as they did in fsx; help new pilots with basic proficiency. The problem with long time simmers sometimes is that they forget when they were first starting out. They have "mastered" so many aspects of the hobby and moved on that they sometimes forget that what might now be second nature to them is not necessarily as easy or as obvious to others.I wish many newer Sims reached out nearly as earnestly to newbies as FSX and now Flight! do/did instead of looking down on them. Perhaps this hobby would be less of a niche.I also hope Microsoft remembers its own wisdom.......

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Man, that is so well said and so very true. I see that way too much today - the looking down attitude exhibited by many for the newcommers. That is certainly one reason it in fact has turned into a niche and a very small part of the overall fight simming venue...

If the trend continues in the direction FSX -> Flight probably in ten years we will have a sort of flying Pong :lol:A.

Except that it is a more realistic Pong. I just tried FSX today after leaving it aside since I started using Flight. It was refreshed to fly in my neck of the woods in a familiar aircraft and airport that I modified to put all the buildings and parked planes where they belong.I did that for an hour and then went right back to Flight. The FM in FSX just feels really dated now. No, I am not trying to fly outside the envelope either so that doesn't bother me.

Especially when applied to the sim DCS A10. Good grief, the keyboard assignments and even setting up your HOTAS is enough to make your head spin.

Flights parent is FSX. This is just pure trolling.
