Payware Bush planes.

Featured Replies

I have just now gotten into Bush flying....Need to know some of the pay-ware bush planes out there...Looking for planes with floats, skis, and tundra wheel options....... LOL I am hooked on the new t.v. show Alaska Wing Men. Been flying big metal fin FS9 for a long time and I'm ready to go slow and low ;) All reference's are welcomed...............Thanks I know there is a Bush pilot forum, but not much activity there.

Do you have the old Freeware Maule ??? One of the best most polished freeware packages ever made and should meet all your needs...Regards,Scott

All good choices but the Pilatus PC6 gets my vote

The Aerosoft Beaver is really good. Premair design had a number of very good DeHavillands. Give PAD a serious look. Excellent freeware.

All of the above are good bush plane simulations but my favourite would be the Aerosoft Beaver although I also very much like the Real Air Scout and Carenado Cessna 185. The PC-6 is also a great STOL performer but ugly to look at although the prize for the ugliest bush aircraft IMO must go to the Quest Kodiak! Other payware available includes a very good Digital Aviation Dornier Do-27, which has some very detailed systems simulation and is fun and very realistic to fly and also, of course, the payware Cessna 208 Caravan. Another freeware bush aircraft is the Helio Courier, although as freeware goes this is not of the same standard as the freeware Maule mentioned above. Just some thoughts!Bill

Hi BillA bush plane is supposed to look ugly! Otherwise it wouldn't be macho! If it isn't ugly, "it ain't gonna get no respect" to quote Rodney Dangerfield.... :Just Kidding:I also have the Carenado C185 and it is excellent. But as someone who has logged a couple of thousand RW hours flying them on wheels and floats, I can say it does need a couple of tweeks. The viewpoint needs to be raised and it needs a lot more torque..... If anyone wants the tweaks I made, I'm happy to provide them.CheersIan

I'd like to see them, can you post them here?regards,Joe

I'm not sure if that's "kosher" - I don't want to offend the Carenado folks. Feel free to PM me with an email address and I'll send you a copy. It's nothing dramatic - just a few changes to to force you to really use the rudder to avoid running off the strip when you push the throttle forward and when you raise the tail during take off and a view point change to improve forward visibility on the ground. (I'm pretty short but even I could see more over the nose than in the default cfg)CheersIan

Check your email. Nothing major but I think it makes it closer to the real deal
