missing library files PNW - ORBX still not fixed..!

Recommended Posts

We all know that most CTD is brought on by missing library files.. these have been reported long ago and the latest set of ORBX libraries released yesterday still do not fix this.. So if you do get CTD dont be surprised to find that these are the culpritsone of the places where you find it is between Arlington Mun and Anacortes.kawo.jpgon the attached GPS you can see whereabout I do get them.VFRArlingtonMuntoAnacortes.jpgWe all know these missing library files are a HUGE contributor to CTD.FSX will not show that missing library files but it can come haunt you later with a CTD (not a definite, but a huge possibility as we all by now know very well) even if you have the FSUIP4 installed that is suppose to catch these CTD when FSX encounter missing library filesPLEASE NOTE:remember that you might not get this message unless you have added the entry below to your FSX.cfgThe entry I am talking about is under the [scenery] sectionMissingLibraryAlert=1if you havent added that entry then you just would not know about missing library files. So you can just ignore the entry and keep flying and hope your system handle the missing library effects.

if you post this on there support forum they will be able to fix it, posting it somewhere else does not help them of anyone else.p.s.I had not had a ctd in fsx since Pete Dowson found a g3d fix which he added to fsuipc :)

I have posted it on ORBX about 3 months ago and again today. Obviously they do not intent to do anything about it.ORBX answer today"As you would appreciate, work on Libraries has to be prioritised, and more pressing issues have clearly taken precendence here. In fact, as far as I am aware, this is the only report we've had for this particular issue."Hellooooooo ORBX ... that is the only mention of the issue because the other 99.9% of people do not know about your incomplete libraries..!! but however you want to get away from your responsibility, it is a FACT that these files are missing and even acknowledged by some of your other developers so it does not matter if this was the ONLY mention of the error. It is an error. FACT accept it..!!! as per ORBX Alex Goff "Hi, those files are landclass files, the missing models stem from placement BGL's calling models from a library that doesn't exist. The placement BGL's reside in individual airports and the models should be in the Orbx Libraries folders but as you've pointed out they've gone AWOL, they can be easily fixed in the next libraries update smile.png" If they can so easily be fix why wasnt it ??Another comment by ORBX"If the warning dialogs are distressing to you, they can be switched off by removing the alert lines from your fsx.cfg. They are really to enable developers to debug scenery, and were never intended to be left on in RTM installs. If, however, you choose to have them switched on, then that is entirely your choice."So why dont ORBX developers use this when testing/Beta testing their scenery... I know I can remove the entry but I prefer to keep it on to be able to see how incomplete developers work are and dont worry I will fix this myself. Luckily some do have the skills to do so themselves and are not handed over to inconsiderate developers unable/unwilling to correct their incomplete scenery... It might take me a bit longer but eventually I will get it right. That I have proven to ORBX too many times that I can fix stuff you think others cant do.!and btw I do have FSUIP4 installed and no I dont get CTD, and that is not the reason for bringing it under ORBX attention. It is simple as ORBX scenery is not 100% complete even though they want the world to believe it is and having FSUIP4 is not enough reason NOT to fix your incomplete scenery. just because some other program catch your missing library files does not warrant you to NOT fix your scenery properly

Ahhhh the wonder of google and internet.Got hold of a small model.. with ModelConverterX.exe I changed the GUID to the missing ones.. Created a dummy library with LibraryCreatorXML.exe..!!Whalla.. no more "missing library files"Will upload in a while for those that want their systems to be 100% correct.Actually thought this i going to take me a whole lot longer..!!

good question... took me about 30 minutes and I know sweetall about scenery design so it should have taken them a mere 5 minutes..even less as they have had it in previous libraries so they should have just added it back it to the latest library set as this was brought to ORBX attention almost 3 months ago....!

Hi there,I know that this is a silly question, but if the CTDs are occurring in the PNW region, why is it better to place these two files in the ..........ORBXFTX_**AU**FTXAA_ORBXLIBSScenery rather than in a ........ORBXFTX_**NA**..... folder (if one exists)? I have yet to undertake installation of my Orbx sceneries, so I am simply trying to gather as much information, and to understand the many processes as best I can, before doing so.Thanks a bunch, Rusty

Because all the general libraries are stored in that particular folder. The NA or NZ scenery bgl's can draw upon those object libraries, they only need and should be located in one place. So PNW scenery or NZ scenery along wiht AU scenery can call upon any object library in that particular folder and display the object in its scenery. Its possible to display objects from say FS DreamTeam Scenery and place them into Orbx scenery even though the object resides in an FSDreamTeam scenery folder. In this case there is a call for an object, however the object just doesn't exist. Perhaps at one time there was a library that was removed or used and then not included or replaced with another object but the the residual bgl is still there looking for the object.

thanks for taking time to give such a nice explanation to Rusty.and you are 100% correct that NA scenery all are included in the Aus library.. a Lot of people get confused with this

Hey thanks much, folks! That is kind of what I suspected, but thanks so much for explaining it, it makes total sense then.

I look forward to undertaking the installations soon.

Blue skies, Rusty

Is the above mentioned "dummyORBX.bgl" file still necessary to have in FSX\ORBX\FTX_AU\FTXAA_ORBXLIBS\Scenery?

Greetings

Flew the route in Prepare3D no issues. I Had similar errors around Vashon with FSX and never could fix them. Definetly was a bad BGL or two in the eyes of FSX but Lockheed apparently accounted for it.
