Featured Replies

Any pictures/screenies?

It's there! I never noticed this one, but I guess this isn't an area I fly around in a lot. Fly 0.9NM along the 117 radial, and there it is. It's got X:es on the runway, and only a single terminal building, so my guess is this is yet another abandoned airfield about to be turned into a shopping mall.

According to Google Maps it's formerly Kona Airport (at least the state park is called Old Kona Airport state park), and now part Kuakini highway, which ends at the end of the runway.

Thanks guys it looks like the original Kona airport .......now out of use........thanks again.

Yeah, the runway is now mainly a huge parking lot for a mostly empty but rocky beach. It's a great place to wander around taking pictures at sunset.

It should be shown on the in-game map as inactive, just like Bellows on Oahu. Send in a bug report.

I just assumed one could land there, so I did :LMAO: It added to my landing count anyway.

Best regards,

Luis

Maybe that's the reason I can't get that "Explore Hawaii" achievement. I swear I've landed at every single airport on the map (even the non operational ones listed on the map) but I still don't have the achievement.

There are 36 airstrips/airports (Not counting the old Kona Airport and Bellows AFB)

I even can't get that "land at all military airports" achieve. I landed on all according to Wikipedia (except that far away at sea), but still no achieve :(.

There's a way to find out what airports you've landed at, but it takes a bit of hacking. The Mystery Airport isn't in the list, nor is Bellows. If the method isn't already in the Tips & Tricks/Tutorials section, I'll go research where I posted it on the beta forum and copy it here.

The problem is that, even though you've actually landed everywhere, the game didn't count one or more landings for whatever reason. It took me quite a while to figure out which one I was missing, and eventually I went hacking in files to figure it out.

The entire list........put together by Hook. I only got the achievement after seeing this on the beta forum.

Thanks Hook !

And here's how to find the list of airports you've landed at:

There's a file called career.spb in the same folder that has your controls file. It's also got all your career files. It's one of the folders in the hidden appdata folder under users: local/microsoft/flight/players/<long number>/career. Copy the career.spb file to your desktop (so you don't mess with the real one), then open this file in notepad. It's easiest to open an empty notepad then drag the file to the open notepad window.

The file contains a lot of hex data, so don't expect it to be easily readable. But if you scroll down 30 lines or so, you'll see a list of your airports. There's a "$" character at the beginning of the list, and another at the end. There won't be an entry for Bellows, but it's not counted. Since you're working with a COPY of the original file (you are, right?) you can edit out the garbage for a list of your airports. Compare this with the airports in the game, and the ones that are missing from the file haven't been counted yet.
