How many trials to land safely per Tutorial 2?

Featured Replies

To start with, I made it at first trial, on my laptop, in the middle of a crowded costa cafe, with a spoiled teen girl trying to distract me.

Never thought I'd do it that way!!

I succeded on my first attempt. I overshot the turn a bit but that was easily corrected.

If you thought landing a simulated aircraft was more important than being distracted by a pretty girl, you might want to take a fresh look at your priorities! You will have loads of time to perfect your landings after the girls loose interest in you...

Maybe the girl was his daughter, or granddaughter.

Grateful enough, when a girl makes the first move, I tend to output a BSOD rather than respond. Most probably because I am nearly certain that she is trying to make a fool of me, not make a real approach, because simply I am not the type of guys that cause such attraction, specially when I am sitting in the cafe bringing in the whole FS Gear, which looks freaky enough :)

Let go the girl started touching the back of my nick while I was on short finals trying hardly to correct my too high glide path.. I would have never looked backwards.

Made it on my second trial. The first one was good too but the approach in was way too low. I had all red PAPIs all the way to the piano keys LOL

I landed safely on my first try, but by no means nicely... IIRC the touchdown was bordering on requiring an inspection...

At first attemp, but overshooted a bit more to the left, I had to recenter the rwy. It's very challenging approach.

The PAPI was all white with me, and yes I was to far to the left and had to recenter. Looks like it turned out for me to be the worst of you guys.

The PMDG has been the first (actually second, but on a short final) airliner I flew in FSX, but I've been (virtually) flying aircrafts in other sims for years, especially in Il-2 Sturmovik, doing tons of manual landings. So to me, circle to land was pretty intuitive. Granted, some luck was involved, not having ever seen the runway before I turned a bit too tightly, but still managed a good alignment on touchdown.

Also, having Freetrack (freeware and much less expensive, but still pretty damn good, track ir alternative) helped a lot, as I could "crouch" and see the runway during the turn.
