  1. Hello guys, Please is it possible to the VC shadows to display during the dusk/dawn environment of FSX? The shadows look great during day time but only then. They aren't visible at dusk or dawn. I've seen dusk dawn shadows on P3d and they look absolutely stunning. They take immersion to a whole other level. I'd like to know if there is anyway to replicate this with FSX. Thanks.
  2. One feature I absolutely love about the 747s is the ability to see the wingtips and outboard engines from either pilot seat. Would this be modeled into the upcoming 747v2? Thank you
  3. Too beautiful Captain R'. Thanks for sharing!!...See you at the FEFA meeting. (Opps I said that out loud :o  )
  4. Hi Folks, I too am experiencing this issue and I have bee able to confirm that it is indeed FS2crew related. I took some screenshots of my cockpit with and without Fs2crew activated. I am trying to upload them here but I don't know how to. Anyway, when I deactivate my fs2crew 777 the problem disappears. It comes back again once I reactivate it.
  5. Ken Its really nice to see your presence here in our simulation Forums. I am a big fan of your website posts.
  6. Nice shots Luke!! How are the Taxi cams looking?
  7. Could you post on some screenshots, I have a feeling this might be the same problem I am going through, My quick fix is to manually reload the exact panel state from the FMC. I'd send a support ticket if I wasn't to darn lazy LOL
  8. Yep, Airlines such as Air canada and Qatar operate both -200LR and 300ER with the same pilots. I have a buddy over at Emirates who flies all the variants, including the 777F
  9. Couldn't agree with you more....Actually I can!! Civil, Military, spacecraft, rotorcraft, glider....of Every flying machine made by man. The 747-8 is simply the most beautiful
  10. Are you running FSX on the windowed mode? assuming you have indeed applied the suggested settings and tweaks. The only thing I can think of would be the mouse cursor. Apparently its presence on your fsx screen affects FPS. There is a slight difference on most other airplanes but on my 777 I noticed a huge difference. By moving the cursor down to my task bar I get nearly double the frames I was getting before. Try it out.
  11. I apologize for hijacking this thread but while we're on the subject I would like to ask, what difference in performance does one expect to see in an OCed i5 vs no OC'ed. I am also looking to upgrade in the coming weeks.
  12. KPAE-DNMM (Delivery flight ) KLAX-YSSY YSSY-KLAX KLAX-KATL KATL-OMDB DNMM-DNAA After work today I'll start some frieghter exercises using the same flight plans as the ones in the AeroLogic DVD by Pilotseye.tv ^_^
  13. There are no RAAS entries to my DLL.xml. Please what does this mean?
  14. Thanks for the suggestion guys. I Double posted this topic by accident and only just found out there were replies here too. I made sure I was using liveries with RAAS enabled. Double checked at the Ops center and in the CDU options. I'll check out the RAAS manual as suggested.
  15. Come to think of it, I now remember that several news agencies were reporting that the intended landing speed for the ill-fated Asiana 777 at KSFO was 137kts. Thanks for the explanation!!
  16. Fellow simmers, There are a few of us, myself included, that have unfortunately experienced poor system performance with this marvelous bird. After searching these forums for a while I picked up a few tips here and there that, put together, seemed to give me a significant improvement in frames per sec and general smoothness. I thought it might be helpful to share them. Please note that i am no expert at performance tweaking. I do not guarantee that these tweaks would work for everyone. However I feel they are worth the shot especially if you're facing problems too. I also run fsx from a very modest machine, definitely nowhere near what would be classed as "high end". My specs are, AMD Phenom II x2, 6GB RAM and Nvidia GT 630 video card. That said here we go. - First thing I did, delete my FSX.cfg file, have FSX generate a new one and apply ONLY these 3 tweaks; 1. HIGHMEMFIX=1 (Seems most people know this one already) 2. [bUFFERPOOLS] PoolSize=0 RejectThreshold=131072 (I don't know exactly what the rejectthreshold section does but it appears to be tailored to individual setups. What I did was use Bojote's FSX tweaking tool at http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html , After generating the new FSX.cfg I went straight to the Bufferpools section, copied it and pasted in my newly generated FSX.cfg. NOTE: I did not use the FSX.cfg from Bojote's site. Rather I simply copied the bufferpools section alone and pasted in my newly generated FSX.cfg) 3. [Display] WideViewAspect=True (Also well known tweak I suppose). The Above tweaks were recommended by Beta tester Frooglesim in a video he uploaded. He claimed to have achieved significant performance improvements using these 3 tweaks alone. Now, for tips directly involving the 777. I gathered from these forums that the VC displays where quite demanding of performance. Some users claimed to have gained a few FPS after adjusting the VC displays FPS limit to 15 or 8. I personally stuck with 15 for all displays. 8 seemed a bit too jerky. You can find this setting in PMDG SETUP- OPTIONS - PERFORMANCE of the CDU. The most surprising tip I discovered was that the mouse cursor ate a large amount of FPS. I run FSX in the windowed mode and by simply lowering my cursor into the taskbar I would get back nearly DOUBLE the frames I was getting before. No joke!! Turns out this applies to all VCs in FSX but especially the PMDG 777 because of its high detail I guess. I also suggest using the internal FPS limiter. It seemed to produce smoother results than when I tried a few external limiters. I set mine to 45 FPS. Added tip for those with a modest setup like mine. Go to the FSX display settings - Aircraft and untick High res 3D virtual cockpit. I did not detect any significant change to the VC quality compared to leaving it ticked. So there you go. I hope these tips improve your 777 and sim performance as they did mine.
  17. Bear in mind SHIFT+2 gives the captains CDU, SHIFT+3 gives the FO's CDU and SHIFT+4 gives the standby CDU, you need the one that corresponds to the ND and EFIS panel you're using. cheers
  18. Yes... I get the Ding and Eicas message when taxing for takeoff and after my approach checklist on landings but that's about it I think. FS2Crews' addon for the pmdg 777 might add some more crew functionality when it becomes available.
  19. There seems to be nothing wrong here. That's just the way the real 777 fuselage is shaped to accomodate the stabilizers
  20. Yes I made sure of this. It would have been very silly of me to forget that bit. I tried liveries that by default have RAAS installed. I also went to the FMC menu and made sure it was enabled. Still complete silence anytime I am near or on a runway. Okay, do I need to repost this on their forums?

    Low FPS

I'm a little relieved to see this thread. I thought I was the only one with this problem. My NGX runs better than my 777 in terms of frames and on the 777 it fluctuates wildly. jumping from 8 to 27 and down to 8 then up to 13 or 15 in only a few seconds
  22. I do not hear RAAS announcements when i approach a runway. I have tried the suggestions in the introductory manual. I made sure there was a runways.csv file in my root directory and I also downloaded and ran the Makerwys application but still there's silence when I expect t o hear a RAAS announcement. Any suggestions from you guys would be appreciated.
