April 19, 201214 yr very difficult now that I got my new rig to run it :-) Just as I promissed, I tested xplane10 again, latest version available from xplane's headquarters. My rig is not top notch, but rather a simple i5 2500@3,3GHz and an ASUS GeForce GTS 450 1GB DDR3... Well, compared to my old system I can finally run xplane10 and give it a fair try... Now, I have a problem... I am really enjoying the outcome from my first test flights :-( Oops!.... Soooo.... I'll have to find room for both now .... better, for the 4 of them: FLIGHT, Condor, ELITE and!!! Xplane10... My first conclusion... We should be carefull about the platform we use to make our tests... Given that Xplane10 is soon going 64bit, things can ** ONLY GET BETTER ** :-) So... and given the default models are not the best to make Xplane10 shine... I will soon start asking for suggestions, GA and gliders mostly, maybe some executive jet.... I'm back, for good ;-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

I'm back, for good ;-) Welcome back jcomm, at least you don't completely lost yourself with the cockpitless planes My system is similar to yours, and XP-10 runs quite well, so I am sure you will obtain good performances. Concerning suggestions for addon aircraft, you can also check this recent thread about the same argument, with a lot of useful indications: http://forum.avsim.n...ook-the-plunge/ A.
April 19, 201214 yr Author Thx Antlab!!!! Will certainly read through it while I fly between islands on the p51 or Zero just listening to the engine sounds to check for some problem :-) Night flying in xplane10 really looks good now :-) Austin should probably rewrite his Moon Phasis code... In FLIGHT we have exact Moon phasis according to date/time, and I like it :-) - this is not a picky complaint... just a suggestion :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

And in this period I am learning to work with its ATC by flying between the various airports around Seattle, at night they are really spectacular. You are right about the Moon phases, but I suspect they don't consider them an high-priority issue. I obtained the same answer when asking for a better FFB implementation. I noticed that you are from Portugal, so, just for fun, check in XP-10 to flying across your wonderful Vasco de Gama bridge in Lisbon. You will discover funny things at its extremities, the "plausible world" is nice, but still requires some tweakings A.
April 19, 201214 yr Author I noticed that you are from Portugal, so, just for fun, check in XP-10 to flying across your wonderful Vasco de Gama bridge in Lisbon. Yep... a friend told me about it :-) No problem... and I do not own Xplane10 yet... just the demo. The full version will have to wait for a while, but it's now item #2 on my list, right after ALASKA for FLIGHT. I already have a Carenado too :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
April 19, 201214 yr Welcome J! Yes it does get frustrating, a nice problem to have! Which sim do I fly today? Youre guaranteed to have your eyes poked out by some xp cockpits. I can confidently recommend Mr 3D's Zero if u want to see what flights version might have been. Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
April 19, 201214 yr Author There are actually 3 pols a day foreseeable for me in the near future... FLIGHT, XPlane10 and... "Xplane10's Blog" from where I gather the suggestions for the day before starting the sims :-) I recommend that great Blog just in case you aren't aware of it ;-) Back when I had xplane 8 and then xplane9 demo, I liked the C47 aircraft a lot (by Jasom Chandler, I believe...). Of course I watched your Mr 3D's Zero tube!!! Great model indeed... thx for the suggestion! One of these days your Blog even included the mention to a very well known (to me...) aerodrome for UL aircraft in Alentejo, Portugal - Figueira de Cavaleiros !!! Whow! Welcome J! April 20, 201214 yr That blog is fantastic! I check it everyday. I like the fact that the cover all flight sims now. Its nice to have choices on what sim to use. I love them all! Rob

April 20, 201214 yr Hmm, odd. I got one of his add-ons a while ago, the V tail Bonanza. I was not impressed at all. Maybe his more current stuff has gotten better.
April 21, 201214 yr I just installed X-plane 10 last week and there are things that I really like and a few things that I'm less than impressed with. I can live with the fact that the airport scenery is non-existent for the most part because there seems to be a decent amount of freeware scenery to fill in. The one thing I'm a little disappointed in is the way that AI traffic is done. The fact that you have a limit of 20 aircraft really takes away from the immersion factor if you're in a large airport. From what I've been able to find out, it doesn't appear that any type of 3rd party traffic program will be forthcoming because of the way that XP10's AI is handled. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Corrected. MortenM posted a method to use other aircraft (freeware or payware) as AI traffic. Airlines, GA, military aircraft, etc... However, I don't think it sticks to a schedule. It uses X Planes own schedule, but it is a step in the right direction. I honestly haven't delved into this part of it, but I know a few users have had great success with it. Hopefully one of them can make a post about it.
April 21, 201214 yr Goran, Thanks for the reply. I'm not overly concerned about schedules. I work for a major US air carrier and we change schedules so often it would be impossible to keep up with them. I'm more concerned with having the correct airlines and equipment for the airport that I'm at with enough numbers to make it seem realistic.
April 21, 201214 yr I'd be interested in hearing about options for more aircraft, too. But even so, I'm enjoying X-Plane more than I thought I would. I like the "feel" of flight in this sim. It seems a bit more challenging than other sims. X-Plane at night looks fantastic, and by day it still looks decent, even accounting for the unfinished airports. I like the ease of recording videos. The ATC is incomplete, but it's already quite interesting, and it promises to improve. And one other thing that I really like: X-Plane has not crashed once for me so far.
