After flying the NGX almost none stop, I've just reinstalled the RealAir Turbine Duke.

 

I love using the FMC and doing full approachers like LOWI has in the NGX.

 

Will the 530 XP let me do this and make the Duke into a mini NGX with regard to route/ approachers.

With a search over at simforums you'll be able to run fairly recent (summer 2011) navdata. I'm not sure if the navdata covers outside of US though - I never fly elsewhere...

 

The RXP does have STARS/DP for entire US for sure... perhaps the EU flyers could chime in...

Download the (free) Garmin 530/430 WAAS trainer as a start - that will give you a pretty accurate sense

of what the RXP unit can do for you.

How bizarre - I've literally just reinstalled it on my new PC (like 5 minutes ago just) and I was wondering about the update on their website - I thought it was only to 2010; they must have updated it - Off I go! Thanks, Ryan..

 

To OP:I think it's global, I'll tell you in about twenty minutes and yes, you can use it to fly GPS/RNP approaches as well as VOR/ILS in any plane its' installed in. I wouldn't fly GA without it tbh..Wish they'd update it to work in P3d

EDIT: we were both wrong: the AIRAC update is only up to SEPT-OCT 09 on their site - I don't know if LOWI has proper approaches in there - never flew it before NGX tutorial 2!..Give me a while and i'll let you know

You would think if you buy a product it would be upto date?

It's not RXP updating it, that's why... It's Garmin releasing new trainers with new databases... these are unofficial RXP updates, essentially user updates...

I've just watch a vid on the Garmin 500 from there site, yes it's old but says WAAS is only for USA?

EDIT: David - I'm pretty certain RXP The update Ryan has pointed me to is a worldwide AIRAC and obstacle database..I think it only has terrain maps for C and N America; that's where the confusion is

O well, I am buying it now :)

As RXP basically piggybacks off the trainer program you are stuck with whatever Garmin offer. As Ryan pointed out, you can get an update using the trainer database from one of the newer Garmin units.
