May 22, 201214 yr If you're serious, then hell yes! Let me know nearer the time and I'll make sure I watch your flight on flightradar24.com and be ready and waiting Partially serious, really depends how things are lined up, believe it or not, one of the things on my mind 10 seconds before touchdown typically isn't "Better flash that light for the lads in the building there", but if I remember and feel I safely can I shall.... Ró. I can well believe that with some of the crosswinds we get here. And if it's not safe enough, I'll just admire your crosswind technique instead!

May 22, 201214 yr I do so wish that Aer Lingus still flew Newcastle to Dublin. We had to go Ryanair last year as it's the only carrier from there now, but I've had a soft spot for Aer Lingus since watching their DC3s taking off from Liverpool's Speke Airport (as it was then) as a kid. Economics kills sentimentality, I know, but it would have been nice...

You may be seeing EI-Regional there in the near future, just as soon as they get new aircraft into the fleet, there are large expansion plans in order for them, only the aircraft can't be delivered soon enough.... Rónán. I'll be keeping an eye open then. Dublin will only be an hour or so away for us in that case (sans Ryanair), and Newcastle's airport is a pretty laid back & unhassled place to be flying from, unlike Ringway (which is admittedly better than the horrorshow that is Heathrow). Thanks for the info ;)
May 23, 201214 yr Back OT - as far as I know the final report is supposed to be released by June so we (should) only have a matter of days left now. What will actually happen in reality I do not know, and whether that will just be the report in French I don't know either - it may take longer for the translated version to appear. In which case they may be some frantic translating going on to try to get the gist of the French version!

July 5, 201213 yr AF should sharply improve pilot training and qualification checks. The AF471 incident coupled with AF447 just raises my hair. Montrous incompetence. They should be grounded until proof that the pilots have adequate skills are presented. Apparently they cannot distinguish a stall and all they do is just ######ty PR stunts like all female crew... #####?!?
July 5, 201213 yr Apparently AF are changing their logo yet again back to the one they were known by in the 50's. Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA

July 5, 201213 yr Does Avsim have an ignore button so I can avoid the rubbish this guy constantly posts? The is a block user list, I used it for the first time the other day, though that guy was in a league of his own, at least Voloiberista contributes most of the time with informative yet highly opinionated posts. July 5, 201213 yr AF were known as AC in the postwar period due to being "somewhat" accident prone (they lost a number of a/c) and their pilots had a reputation of flying as if they were fighter pilots! Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
