May 31, 201214 yr I updated to reality-xp GNS530 1.6, question: does one have to install the new trainer? I said no because it stated it would use your existing trainer. When I went to fly the PA46T I entered my flight plan into the GNS530 the flight plan is copied to the G500 PDF but not the MFD nor to the Garmin 430. This is what it was doing before the update. Did I do the install wrong? Also, I tried to execute a gps rnav waas approach and normally when I'm at the FAF I hit the apr button on the PA46T and I normally see that it has captured the waas by displaying GS in the auto pilot panel. However, last night it did not show the GS and the PA46T started a 1200fpm decend while banking right...I let it go for a minute to see what it was going to do...and that was a minite too long...as soon as I disconnected the auto pilot the PA46T wings fell off (overspeed, that was very quick with no warning). Thanks for the help, Ray
May 31, 201214 yr Author No need to install a new trainer. Did you add LinkGPS=On to the rxpgns.ini file for the P46? It should cause the magenta flight plan track to show on the MFD. The autopilot issues appear unrelated.. try testing some more! Bert
May 31, 201214 yr Also, the 1.6 version still will not copy the flight plan to an RXP 430 without the unlimited package. It should copy to the stock 430 with Bert's directions. Branton Turner
May 31, 201214 yr Ah...I looked for the rxpgns.ini file last night after reading the manual (didn't want RXP to say did you read the manual). It says there should be a ini file in your aircraft folder. PA46T folder did not have this ini file. So that's why I was a little confused. If I open the RXP aircraft config tool and select PA46T it gives a warning...so of course i didn't do that. So is there a generic ini file that the PA46T uses, or did I just look in the wrong folder location. I looked in the programs folder\microsoft\simobjects... Thanks, Ray
May 31, 201214 yr The Carenado RXP utilities don't build an rxpgns.ini file, they only assist in getting the 3d panel in place, so you'll need to do the .ini file yourself. The easiest way is to copy one from an existing plane. I keep default .ini files for 430 only, 530 only and 430 + 530 installations that I then copy in and modify as needed for each plane. Yes, it goes in the fsx\simobjects\airplanes\name of plane folder. Alternatively, you can have the RXP utility build it for you - just ignore the error, which has to do with panel placement that you're not going to do anyway, and go ahead and do the 530 config section. Then go back and manually add the LinkGPS=on line. Scott
May 31, 201214 yr Ah...very cool thanks for clearing that up... Not sure what I would do without you guys :-) Thanks, -Ray

Bert, I have been able to get the 430 to link, but not the 530. Here is the simple RXPGNS.INI that works for the 430. I tried a simple .INI file with only the LinkGPS=On line, and tried changing the [GNS430] to [GNS530], and tried a file with two sections, one section [GNS430] and one section [GNS530]. The only thing that works, and only for the RXP430 is this: [GNS430] Popup=15431 LinkGPS=On If I had my choice I'd have the RXP GNS 530 link instead of the 430. What am I doing wrong? This is the only model where I have both a RXP430 and RXP530. I've had no trouble whatsoever in the other aircraft that each have only one RXP unit. June 1, 201214 yr Author Assuming you have a 530 and a 430 installed, you need an ini file with two sections. You likely want the two units to be NAV1 and NAV2, so Radios=1 and =2 should be in the the two sections of the ini file. Also put LinkGPS=On in the section of the device you want to link the flightplan (530 in your case). If you do not have the RXP Unlimited pack, only one GNS is the active GNS. The Unlimited pack shares the flightplan info across both units if Crossfill=On is set. Try changing which GNS is the "active navigation device" by clicking the documented click-spot (I believe it is a right-click on the memory card slot). Bert
June 1, 201214 yr Try changing which GNS is the "active navigation device" by clicking the documented click-spot (I believe it is a right-click on the memory card slot). Bert, That last tip was the trick. That and the fact that I evidently had a second copy of the RXPGNS.ini file in the Panel folder for the aircraft. I was getting so frustrated that I renamed the RXPGNS.ini file in the aircraftname folder. The RXP430 still linked to FSX! ??? How could that happen with no .ini file? That's when I found the copy of the .ini file in the Panel folder. Once I eliminated that I finally got on track. Still the right click on the memory card slot was a needed step and it appears that will need to be done each time! So question..... is there a line for the .ini file that would set the RXP530 to be the active nav on startup? Oh, also, thanks also for the tip on the Radios= parameter. June 1, 201214 yr Author As you found out, the ini file in the panel folder will take precedence over the ini file in the aircraft folder, so one - and only one ini file is definitely the way to go! I do not know how to set one GNS to be the active unit at startup - I hope someone else can jump in with the answer.. Bert
June 1, 201214 yr Author New and better info: Quote: "the first one loaded from the panel.cfg is the active one, and FS usually loads gauges in the order they appear in the panel.cfg file. If you put the 530 before the 430 in the panel.cfg file, it shall be loaded first and be the active." Bert
June 2, 201214 yr A haaa! That's great news! I'm off to my panel.cfg file right now! I believe this and the 210 are the only aircraft where I have two active RXP GPS units in the panel! Came back to edit. Worked like a charm! Thanks Bert!
