May 27, 201214 yr I bought REX 2.0 but I never installed it. Figured I would just wait for Essential. So tell me, for those who have used REX or follow their site for the latest, does REX provide a true 100% cloud layer? So that one can simulate "breaking through" a cloud layer, that is, if one so desires that? I did not see it mentioned exactly in their new Essential manual. Did mention something about a fog layer... the same? Don't want to bug them at their site as with 8 eight hours before release I am sure they are going nuts right now. Clutch I started a thread about this on there a while back, results looked really good. With Essentials it look like it'll be possible to do this but I'm not certain
May 27, 201214 yr "So that one can simulate "breaking through" a cloud layer, that is, if one so desires that?" Of course what will determine this is the weather engine, not the textures. Activesky and REX have been attempting to get a realistic depiction of this but with very mixed results. Here's hoping Essentials succeeds. Randall

Great work from the REX team and great policy to allow a free update on such major changes. :good:
May 28, 201214 yr Commercial Member @CoolP - thank you for your very kind words and support of REX. Reed StoughManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
May 28, 201214 yr So, I can't install Essentials if I have Overdrive installed, even if I downloaded it from FSS? Becasue I just tried before reading (of course) and it installed. And I opened it.
May 28, 201214 yr Commercial Member @Word Not Allowed - If you downloaded the full version of REX E you can have it running side by side with other versions of REX. You just can't upgrade REX + OD with the current version of REX Essential. Reed StoughManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
May 28, 201214 yr Alright. But I see many similarities. It's like running two programs that can do the same thing, with Essentials being able to do some new stuff (still didn't dug in as much), but excluding OD stuff. When the upgrade comes, will I have one program for everything?
May 28, 201214 yr Commercial Member Not yet anyway ;) REX Essential OverDrive will be in testing this week... It will not be long. Edit: Yes Word Not Allowed, when REX Essential OverDrive, it's everything you need. Tim FuchsManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
May 28, 201214 yr So with REX Essential Overdrive I'll be able to have one program with everything in it? And another question: if I install Essentials separately now, can I uninstall it later, without having to uninstall my complete REX (it's a pain only, takes well about 30minutes all in all), and install the REX Ess. OD upgrade?
