June 2, 201214 yr See the pic below. When switching view in a 2D panel view I often see colored squares or rectangles like this before all textures load. Lasts about a second or so. Even though much more rare I have also seen this in VC while looking around. But I havn't this problem in FSX. So why should I have it in FS9? Same computer same plane same weather theme during last test.
June 2, 201214 yr Differences in the way FS9 and FSX render textures, maybe? Only a guess. I've seen similar artifacts in FS9 when I tried one or two supposed video driver "tweaks" that didn't quite work out as advertised.
June 2, 201214 yr Author maybe because your in window mode, this mode has issues on some systems. No I was only in windowed mode to be able to take a screenshoot. It's the same in fullscreen mode
June 3, 201214 yr As far as I can remember, it has always happened in my FS 2004 when changing views in Cockpit 2D mode. As I initally swap views, left, right, etc, with the joystick Hat Switch, the scenery area quickly loads (completes) on either side as I view it, and then for the rest of the journey everything works smoothly when changing views. ..I have got used to it now, and accept it!... ...! Paul... :Bug: ...!
June 3, 201214 yr Those red-greenish artifacts look as if your GPU is about to die or you have some sort of driver issue. How old is your GPU? I think it's normal that textures sometimes take a microsecond to load. What worries me is this red-green pattern on the whole screen...

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400 (some-people set this figure even higher ,but not sure if doing that accomplishes anything) The default setting is 40 This is not a snake oil fix ,but really works for slow view texture loading problems. I think it's normal that textures sometimes take a microsecond to load. What worries me is this red-green pattern on the whole screen... If you refer to the small colored dots in the pic I think it's something that arose in the low res pic itself and was not visible while flying (or playing other games). Paul... :Bug: ...! Yes I also remember this always toi be the case though much more severe on earlier less powerfull systems. I find it difficult to accept since I don't need to do so in FSX.
June 5, 201214 yr But I havn't this problem in FSX. So why should I have it in FS9 Hello Possibly because FSX is using all of your cores, texture loading is done in the background on cores other than the one running the main FSX process. FS9 can only utilise one core.

Andy +1 Old issue, this helps greatly. Some say start lower, like say 200 - see what works best given your setup. Regards, Mark

June 6, 201214 yr Hello Lock your frames at something that your machine can achieve bearing in mind that with FS9 everything is on one core. Read this to get a feel for why the texture loading needs a few more time slices and what to do about it. http://www.steve-lacey.com/2005/11/the_blurries RIP : Steve Lacey

During my last flight FS9 was able to achieve that most of the time.

June 6, 201214 yr jfri: Post your computer specs and your fs9.CFG and we'll see what's going on. Thanks. Paul
