June 6, 201214 yr Commercial Member Kyle- You and Aaron are buddies? Nice! We'll have to schedule some time around the grill at the airport to swap airplane stories. (You know the ones where the landings are always better, the engine failure always more spectacular, the copilot is always dumber and the F/As always better looking? Yeah...those...) Yep! We finally got to meet up back in February when I decided to take a trip to CHO from JYO and had him come along. Before that, I was just the partner in ATC crime on VATSIM for his NGX test flights. Definitely! Good old hangar stories. You forgot one, though: the stories where you all actually slept while holding a line. I was supposed to meet up with him after the ADW Air Show the other weekend, but my phone died, so I couldn't give him a heads up and get directions to his place. That phone death also killed an opportunity to sit right seat and log some time in a King Air the next morning. Needless to say, an unfortunate bit of timing there. Yeah- I'm not looking forward to 5 days of 12hr drives- but I refuse to send my golden retriever by air- so it just has to be done... No joke. Working ramp at IAD gave me too many glimpses of horror to send pets by air. My buddy and my tactic when I helped him make the move to PHX last month was to stop by some of the Diners Drive-ins and Dives spots. It doesn't help the waistline, but it broke the monotony with some good food, which was nice. Kyle Rodgers
June 6, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member Robert, you bringing your bird here? Where are you basing? Doug KRMN. We'll have to do a hangar cookout for local PMDG fans at the end of the summer... Have to get caught up on my 777 work though, or it'll be me on the spit.... Kyle- I managed to catch some sleep on the line. Once it was descending out of FL190 on the arrival into KHPN, and another time it was descending through about 1200 AGL while hand flying the ILS to 22L at KEWR at night in crap weather with a deferred flight director and no autopilot. Yeah... "you know you are fatigued when...." Who did you work for on the ramp at KIAD? A million years ago I helped manage a big piece of the operation for The Evil Empire... That was back when they still cared about customers and employees... Now I would rather walk than board one of their airplanes... <cough> Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
June 6, 201214 yr (Yes! We are prepping for the 777 release! Exciting times!) Thanks for keeping us in the loop, the anticipation for the 777 is almost palpable. Jon Preston

Yeah... "you know you are fatigued when...." Haha. Yeah. There's a good YouTube video of ATC-pilot banter, where an EGF pilot is flying into JFK and seems very underwhelmed that anything is going on around him. Here it is: Who did you work for on the ramp at KIAD? A million years ago I helped manage a big piece of the operation for The Evil Empire... That was back when they still cared about customers and employees... Now I would rather walk than board one of their airplanes... <cough> Yeah, having worked ramp for said Evil Empire, I know exactly what you're talking about. Oddly enough, before that, I also worked with a former partner of said Evil Empire both prior to and after they declared their own independence. I must've passed you there at some point. I was mostly on what is now A3. I forget what it was called it prior to that. Kyle Rodgers
June 6, 201214 yr KRMN. We'll have to do a hangar cookout for local PMDG fans at the end of the summer... Excellent. I remember when they opened Stafford. Nothing there but a runway for a fair amount of time. Used to be a good place to practice. Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers
June 6, 201214 yr Haha. Thanks for the photo cred, Doug. Of course, you let me borrow it, so the least I can do is give you credit. I need a "DC-6 future owner" one, since I'm less interested in the T7 ot 747.2 then most of the other folks around here. Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers

June 20, 201213 yr This is what I get for not having checked the forums in a couple of weeks :LMAO: Been trying to keep the 777 off my mind for awhile so the anticipation doesn't kill me. June 20, 201213 yr Dont forget the 747v2. Im doing a flight from ybbn to klax at the mo and altho the queen works well, it looks pretty dated. I cant actually fly the level d 767 now because of the ngx. But maybe one day, someone could update it, or replace it...... hint hint. Cameron Lett
