What we would want to see fixed in FS2k6...

Featured Replies

I second the point about adding SID/STARS... Microsoft we really need this in the next version of FS. Also holding patterns need to get simulated as well... :-smooch Another thing is fixing AI so there not trying to land on top of each other. Proper separation needs to get simulated...

G'day Bazz,Have you tried out some of the newer FSD offerings. They have instituted some damage modelling which works pretty well.Cheers,Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern AustraliaMy "Around the World 4" flight pagehttp://members.iinet.net.au/~portercbp/fly...e%20World_5.htm

I'd like to see:Helicopter ATC procedures, so ATC doesn't ask me to fly the pattern and land on a runway at KLGA in my helo! More real world helipads and heliports in the scenery (several helipads are missing from major NYC area airports in FS2K4)How about an autogen hospital with a helipad, or more autogen office buildings with rooftop helipads?Helicopter AI aircraft, especially in major citiesAt least one new corporate helicopter included in the package. How about an S76, with accurate engine and systems modeling?Flight Planner that supports helicopter routes and heliports as starting and ending points.WayneMetro 7 / NMH07Metro Helicopters VANew York London UKwww.metrohelo.org

You can't have that Christian! If you start talkin' to a computer, the men inwhite coats will cart you off! It willfrighten the family even more then they are now !! Wink!Peter Sydney Australia

Hi,I like most all the suggestions I have seen so far. Here's another. How about AI planes that don't take 5 minutes(a little exaggeration there) to get off the runway after they have landed? In the real world do planes come to a full stop on the runway after they have landed? And then after stopping go at a bicycles pace to get to a taxiway? Not a huge deal, but it would be nice. ;)Cheers,Jim

Not so much fixes, but developments.Continue coding development so that smoothness continues to improve.Further develop cloud masses in the distance.Inclusion of more advanced FMCs.Easy implementation of outside scenery onthree monitors.Large areas of photographic VFR scenery roundselected airport areas.Peter Sydney Australia

This reasoning really doesn't site well with me seeing little work was done on the 737 and 747... I could see if major work was done on these equally complex aircraft but it wasn't... :-roll

1) Fix the overcast conditions2) Fix the CTD3) Fix the upperwinds4) Kill the visual approach... or at least have an option to solely run AI under IFR5) Get the AI off the runway as mentioned6) Allow AI flight planning (SID, STAR, ENROUTE7) As mentioned get some pilots involved in the beta that fly on a regular basis and know something about vectoring for approaches and such.

I'd personally like to Microsoft move it's Flight Simulator Division to another city... In case of the big one, I don't want development time for the next version of FS to get interrupted... :-xxrotflmao

Oh, I have been waiting for this thread. I hope MS is reading this. I am an employed real life airline pilot in KATL, and have been playing FS since versions to early to remember the names of. This simulator has come a long way and I am very impressed with the current version but I have always had a problem with the "as real as it gets" part. I would like to see, not necessarily in this order:1. SIDS and STARS implemented into the ATC model WITH vertical restrictions in the approaches as well, as it is now there are no vertical ressrictions in the MS GPS approaches..."look out below!!!"2. Fix the G** D*** upper winds, smooth transitions and no 195 degree changes.3. Pilot controlled lighting for the non controlled fields and the part time controlled fields after the virtual tower ATC guys go home, with varying intensities.4. The ability to contact FSS, or center in flight for weather briefings or to file a flight plan in real time via ATC menus, not to stop flying and set up your flight plan as in FS2004.5. HIWAS on VOR's would be cool6. Every approach lighting system is not ALWAYS activated at every airport all the time MS!! Make the airports more intelligent, make APPROACH lighting active only on the runways with approaches in use. And make available the ability to ask tower to turn up or down the intensity of the ALS (approach lighting system).7. Get some foreign voices for ATC, not always Male 1, 2, 3, or 4.8. Make ATC smarter, dont start giving vectors to final at 84 miles out from the airport, maybe Class B airports start about 70 out IF there is heavy traffic, but not to a 3000 ft, municipal strip. Also make ATC stop vectoring a C172 onto final 2 miles before me in my 737 which is 80 knots faster or make ATC hand out speed restrictions and speed limits.9. Love the weather, just make it more FPS friendly.10. Absolutely, definently give us back a decent overcast layer, one that you cannot see through, or not one that changes momentarily from overcast to clear then to 1/2 mile vis.11. Give us two models of each aircraft, one clean and pretty, one dirty and rented or weathered.12. Give us the ability to ask for direct to any fix on our flight plan if IFR, make it random if we get it or not.13. Give us random enroute clearance changes when we are IFR to simulate MOA's or traffic congestion.14. The flight planner screen would look cool as a real flight plan form with pull down menus in the appropriate boxes.15. Cooler gauges in the GA aircraft would be neat, enhanced engine management gauges, EHSI's in the king air ala reality xp style. 16. Very simple change here, give us the digital (computerized) ATIS (D-ATIS) voices at the major airports, how hard is this to implement? There are numerous other things I would like to mention but I feel I might be taking up too much space already, if anyone would like to hear more please let me know.

Bmwk1200, I must say you have nailed some very good points... :-beerchug I hope the guys at Redmond are reading this...

I'll let you all in on a little secret here. Even the 3rd party add on developers as beta testors really doesn't give us a heads up on how to make our products compatible. It's the SDK's we really need which come well after the gold. The fact is; the beta actually slows our product enhancements and/or new releases. We help beta because it's our job or responsibility (figuretivly speaking) to help them identify the million and one items that may need attention. I think they also hope we can help translate issues into "dev speak" as well as look at technical issues. Where this helps us is in the long term is that we hopefully can have a sim that we can make products for and make them work well. . These are just a few reasons I'm sure. Everyone I'm sure has their own personal feelings on why they participate. We also pass on info we read in these forums. It's an overall free flow of ideas and tasks to accomplish.

Hi Again,I agree with Dillon Bmwk1200, well done. Believe me, this is not the first time this subject has come up since the release of FS2004, and I'll wager it won't be the last. You should have seen the length of one of Nathan Palmers posts with suggestions for improvements. IIRC, your post is about 1/3 of the size. Personally I wouldn't have minded if Nathan's post was twice as long as it was. It's all good. So by all means, if you have more, put it out on the table!A couple more from me, again fairly minor...MSFS Team, if you can, fix the fact that mountains flicker and dance when they are in the distance.Again, if you can, fix the shimmering(barber polling) scenery issue.Cheers,Jim

Yeow!!! Some great suggestions here. I would like to second bmwk1200 notion about speed assignments especially below 10,000. They could handly take care of bunch ups at airports if integrated into ATC. Also second the "postion and hold" reality for role outs. Crowded paterns on take off would add alot.Since 3rd party add-ons are such a large part of the hobby why can't MS be more transparent in their developement. I mean, they got the market and there is total lock on the proprietary code, what have they got to lose? Thanks for listening.John
