What we would want to see fixed in FS2k6...

Featured Replies

Since I know the guys at Microsoft read these forums I thought I'd start a thread on what we would like to see in FS2k6 before it's too late in the development cycle...As of now I can only think of one thing sitting here at work seeing that I'm very busy.1. I hate sitting at airports like KLGA and have to wait for the landing aircraft to clear the runway before being cleared to taxi onto the runway for takeoff... In the real world at extremely busy times, aircraft taking off are cleared to hold for takeoff on the active runway while the landing aircraft is still on roll out down the far end of the runway. Once the landing aircraft has taxied off the runway the departing aircraft is cleared to start it's takeoff roll.At this time FS2k4 only does this when for departing aircraft. Meaning ATC will clear you to taxi onto the active before the departing aircraft just before you has officially lifted off the runway on it's takeoff roll. Actually it would make more since to hold an aircraft on the taxiway a little longer due to vortex issues with smaller aircraft. But like I said before you should be able to taxi onto the active while another aircraft is still on it's landing roll...2. Another issue is I hate that jet airliners don't have taxi lights when maneuvering on the taxiways at night...That's all I have for now and I know there's much more to request so I hope this thread get's filled up with great ideas before it's tool late for Microsoft to implement these ideas in the next sim...Happy flying... :-)

Another thing I forgot is:MICROSOFT DON'T REMOVE ALL THE OLD VINTAGE AIRCRAFT YOU GAVE US IN FS2K4!!! :-eek I would hate to loose all these cool aircraft from the Century of Flight like you guys took away the Concord... Actually you guys can upgrade all these models and give us back the Concord with a clickable VC...These Aircraft should stay standard issue for all future versions of Flight Simulator. I'm sure many will be unhappy not to have these old aircraft return...

>I would hate to loose all these cool aircraft from the Century>of Flight like you guys took away the Concord... Actually you>guys can upgrade all these models and give us back the Concord>with a clickable VC...Unlikely to happen, From MS themselves...Concorde came off the list after Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 for several reasons. First, it is an extremely complex aircraft, and updating the panels, visual models, and systems would have meant dropping one or more of the new aircraft. Second, although Concorde was popular with many users, our surveys indicated that it ranked low on the list for most virtual aviators, in large part due to its complexity and the difficulty of mastering its unusual flight characteristics. Although Concorde certainly adds an interesting experience to Flight Simulator, on balance, we decided that our efforts were better spent elsewhere.http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimul...ingaircraft.asp

altitude winds will have to be fixed...not maybenot could benot we'll seeI mean HAVE to be fixedthis radical 180 degree wind shifting make advanced addon aircraft FMS wind prediction for descent unusable. Besides the fact that it will rip the wings off.

I would love to see the poor old Barron with the props unfeathered when the engines are off. Those are Continental recips not PT-6's.But the most significant area that needs attention, in my opinion, is ATC. Please microsoft, please get pilots involved in the ATC modeling engine. It is so unrealistic now that if one uses it, the sim experience is made much less real. Also, I agree with the previous poster about the winds aloft. Thanks for listening,Bill Worth

IF there is a FS2k6 :), I'd like to see DPs and STARs implemented as well as marshallers.

The Seasonal CTD must be resolved. I'm usually first in line to buy the next version of MSFS, but I'll hold off buying FS2K6 until I'm convinced that this problem is gone. It simply buggers too many real time flights.Greg

Definately voice-activated ATC, and STARS and SIDS.Greg- not to pick on you, but like the rest of us you know you'll buy it anyway :)

I'd like to see some realistic damage modelling -- such that the aircraft have to be flown correctly or they are "damaged" . At the moment, it is too easy to just "blast off" and not observe engine parameters, etc. Aircraft are highly complicated pieces of machinery and the present models present them as "toys" that you can do anything to without damaging them. Realistic damage modelling would certainly make it MORE "real as it gets"Barry

As for myself, I see Microsoft working closely to just continue improvements began in FS2004. I expect to see ATC matured more, especially in the area of minimum separation so that we don't have ten different aircraft landing on top of each other.I also expect to see further weather improvements, and perhaps the inclusion of weather radar.I would also see a focus put back onto the default airliners. They've gone relatively untouched for a while now, and I see them getting rebuilt.Autogen and ground textures may see some tweaking, but I wouldn't expect anything ultimately dynamic.I personally would like to see some more intuitive interfaces... pax and fuel load screens that easier to access and use (and visually more closely represent the aircraft they are for), and find-as-you-type functionality in the airport selection screen for geographic locations. For instance, if I'm typing in "New Or" I'd expect the program to automatically fill in "New Orleans" as the city.Anything else I'm afraid is just too much to ask to be accomplished. Heck, just this much speculation is probably too much to be accomplished. There's a heck of a lot of work that goes into that program, I'm sure! But, now that we're past the century of flight, I'd like to see such as these "core principles" being worked on again, and I hope they don't decide to let all the add-on creators be beta testers again!!! That was the worst mistake, everybody was so concerned with their add-ons being compatible with FS2004 that the default configuration was in many ways left neglected.Obviously, I prefer a more-or-less "clean" installation ;-)Kenneth

My top 5 suggested improvements for the next FS version are:1. Crossing timezones - keep UTC constant and change local time, not the other way around as is presently done (which resets AI and moves the sun).2. Weather - Smooth wind changes both CW and CCW. Can we please have the 100% overcast cloud layer back (circa FS2002).3. AI - Stagger AI aircraft to avoid formation AI approaches with high AI percentages.4. Performance - Better utilisation of powerful GPUs to decrease CPU workload for increased eye candy. Fix the autogen bug too please.5. ATC - Vector me closer to the airport on ILS approaches (ie. not 30nm out - 10 to 15nm would be fine), and preferably not through mountains (MMMX!). Gary

AI - lets face it, MS has tried to halfway do this in the past. They need to realize that the serious AI fiend is going to pack so much AI into FS....so MS needs to revamp the AI to accomidate that.Autogen - nice, but it can be better. FPS, that is.Clouds - More FPS, please :)Fluidity - More FPS, please ;)

My preference is for a lot of 3rd party add-ons, and these people can't be left in the dark, when MS makes programming changes that severly effects their products. I believe it's a combination of the base simulation & the add-ons, that make MSFS as popular as it is.L.Adamson

All the suggestions made, and expanding on ATC, we need an option to declare an emergency, low fuel, etc. I've made a few out of fuel deadsticks, one caused by the tower making me go 'round several times at a busy airport while I'm sucking fumes. And with both props stuck in one posistion, the tower wants me to go 'round again.
