FS recorder is good if you don't need your sound sync'd to your video (ie: you replace real time sound with music) Normally though you will need a program like FRAPS. Unfortunately FRAPS is hard on system resources both CPU and disk space, as it creates large AVI files. I find the best program with the least impact on performance is GameCam. With your system the performance hit shouldn't be a factor, file size though will. A 4GB file with FRAPS would be about 10 minutes. at 1280x720,. For comparison look at KLAX-KSFO video with the NGX. That is a complete flight video including external views (1:48hr) and the processed file was only 1GB. The raw files only a little larger. You can view them below from my Youtube video link in my sig. One thing though, while it appears they are still selling it the developer doesn't appear to be supporting it (at least through it's forum which is now gone.) and it does have one issue. Periodically it hits a sound glitch that can corrupt the end piece of a recording. (Although Sony Vegas can still read it, Windows Movie makerwill freeze on it) You can split that piece off of it wth Moviemaker though. Fortunately it doesn't happen too often. Performance wize I hardly lose any frames with it where I lose a good 30-40% with FRAPS.

Thanks

I'd like to be able to have the NGX sounds in the vid rather than replacing them with music.

I had seen posted here someone said they were using MSI Afterburner....not quite sure how this works as I have it and have not noticed a video record feature.

Try this...payware...you can set the record section to whatever size you would like onscreen.

I tried that, it had the same performance issues I had with FRAPS on my system. GameCam was the only one I found that had good performance and didn't eat up my hard drive. There is a slight hit in quality (Due to the compression), but I think you can see from my videos, it isn't that bad.

Thanks

Never tried it, but will look into it....your right about eating up the HD space.

Bandicam is the best in saving your frame rates. Tried it yesterday but I couldn't record full-screen for some reason.

From my experience

Badicam eats fps as much as fraps-2 or 3

So I don't really like to use it

FS Recorder is really awesome. It gives you lots of new camera options, too!

He'll need FS Recorder too in order to do external view videos, using it's internal FSX recorder facility. It's much better then FSX's own instant replay function as it records AI and is much smoother.

Thanks
