Is the 777 going to have the used look or more of a new look?

Actually, not sure if they done it on a LR/300ER or not. The 3 main differences you'll get in between a United 772ER and say Emirates 77L is the TCAS, on some of the first 777's have Squawks like the 767 which is a number pad. 77L/300ER's don't generally have Seat Belt signs as newer Aircraft are fading them out. (Not every Airline though). And finally the Standby instrument that you see on the LR & 300ER which is in the current screen shots, is newer and there's only one. Unlike the 772ER's that have 3.

Whe is the seat belt sign being faded out? Is there an automatiuon that controls it now? Also when I look at cockpit shots of the -200LR I can only see one switch where there used to be 2 for passenger signs, however I cant tell what it controls, any idea? I can't imagine its the no-smoking sign, thats even more obsolete than the seatbelt sign which most people ignore anyways.

All flights are clearly No Smoking flights, I guess they're not needed as it's a standard rule these days. They state it in the briefing etc. Yes, that's the Seatbelt Sign. I know ANZ, they have a "Entertainment" Light in the Cabin where the Smoking Sign would normally be. That one is controlled by the Cabin Crew, Pilots just have the Seatbelt Sign.

Actually I just got a pretty good look from a video and a couple of pictures and the one switch that is still there is the seat-belt sign switch. Where have you heard that new aircraft are fading them out? Perhaps you meant the no-smoking sign?

I imagine it was someone like UA. Since Rob use to work for them, not sure if he flew the 777's.

- i doubt it bud.

Rob never said he worked for UA. He was a Captain on a JS41 for united express( a regional commuter, Rob based in VA), which was most likely contracted out to ACA( Atlantic Coast Airline). He quit and started making manuals which became what it is now - PMDG. He never flew for ANY legacy carrier, and probably never will.

Furthermore, UA didnt have the 737NG in there fleet at the time of development. Those came much later with the acqusition of Continental

The Continental acquisition was at the time of release of the NGX, I think.

No but they did give us a clue. I believe it was RSR who said it was Photographed in a very cold climate,....and that it was done with a plane that was out of service for maintanence.

My guess is Alaska Airlines. I believ they have a maintanence hangar in PANC

IF my old memory serves accurate, it was N307AS that was first shown in screenshots.

Thanks for the info.

I actually plugged that tail number into airliners.net and it returned an Alaskan 737-990, the most recent photo taken Feb. of 2011.

If my memory serves me correctly, The photo survey aircraft for the NGX was a 737-800 built in 2001 belonging to Sun Country. the team went out to Minneapolis in the middle of winter to photograph the bird. After some research, PMDG painted N804SY. This plane matches up with the 2001 build date, AND was in the sun country fleet at the time they would have done the photographs. This seems to be the most likely aircraft our beloved NGX is based from.

As for the 777, All we know is that they have photographed a 777-200lr. My guess would be that it belongs to either Delta or is a Boeing demonstrator.

Tim, good job. That makes better sense than the alaska theory of mine!

Actually, he did. If my memory serves me correct, I believe RSR was employed by United in a managerial, non-flying role before he took flight training and became a regional pilot. I also believe he was making the manual and perhaps even several of the aircraft for Fly! before he became a professional pilot so I don't think he quit anything to for the sake of PMDG. In fact, I think he was laid off.

Rob,

Maybe you can clarify who you did and didn't work for ha. I just remember you saying you were "Working with one of the biggest Airlines that brought the 777 into operation" in the Conference back in March (god can't believe it's June already!)

I might have the wrong photographs, but all the ones that I have use the tail number "N738PM," which is non-descriptive for any airline.

I kept most of the old photographs in a Picasa Web Album- Here. The oldest photos by PMDG are not there because they had already been removed by AVSIM.

Just as long as it don't look like one of Air France's 777 I saw a few years back. It looked liked it hadn't seen a wash rack in years. If I can find that photo, I will post that link. Now, I will take my 777 like Delta's, nice and shiny, fresh from the paint hangar. :Peace:

JAL Cockpits must be so clean, they even wear gloves - I think.

Actually that's ANA and it seems to be more of a tradition thing instead of a sanitary thing.

AA has the light on all the time and IIRC while the switch does not operate the light anymore they still use the chime to alert the cabin crew before takeoff.
