June 21, 201213 yr Great! The carbon cub outperforms the super cub, even those equipped with a 160hp engine.
June 21, 201213 yr Takeoff Distance Takeoff Ground Roll: 60 ft* Landing Distance Landing Ground Roll: 245 ft* Rate of Climb Rate of climb: up to 2,100 fpm* Fuel Consumption Fuel consumption: 5-6 gph* Endurance (normal, 80hp cruise): 4 hrs* Max range: 450 miles* Speeds Vno 101 mph(normal operating range top of green on airspeed indicator) Vne 141 mph(never exceed speed top of yellow on airspeed indicator) Vs0 32 mph(stall speed w/flaps down, slowest stall speed) Vs1 40 mph(stall speed w/flaps up, clean) *Performance numbers assume optimal conditions, actual numbers will vary. Fuel consumption and speed will vary with power settings. So...Takeoff Ground Roll: 60 ft* REALLY? Only 60 feet???
June 21, 201213 yr Apart from not knowing if this Cub will have a VC, we also don't know yet if this one comes with Alaska like the RV-6A did or if it is seperate DLC... But whatever: these are exciting times...
June 21, 201213 yr I honestly would not fly Alaska without a good GPS. The terrain blocks VOR signals and there are very few stations. The Icon has a GPS ... of sorts.... the Carbon cub will have at least that. The alternative is learn how to read topographic maps.
June 21, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member Some YT video of the Carbon Cub SS (I think we will get the SS). I dont know about you guys, but im going to fly the SH out of this guy!!!!! *as long as it has a cockpit* The Icon has a GPS ... of sorts.... the Carbon cub will have at least that. The alternative is learn how to read topographic maps. Sorry. I made the Icon. Its only got a moving map. Sorta like a GPS, but 0 functionality. All it does is show your current position. Modern aviation GPS systems will do a lot more, trust me. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
June 21, 201213 yr So...Takeoff Ground Roll: 60 ft* REALLY? Only 60 feet??? LOL That Youtube movie answered my question! Look at 0.15 seconds...! Amazing! Not as fast as I hoped but certainly not too slow, so it seems, and I like that it can land and take off from any place you want to!
June 21, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member In a strong head wing, im sure you can land backwards! Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
June 21, 201213 yr I can imagine some spirited "see if you can land where I just landed" multiplayer contests with this Carbon Cub. Land AND take off again. Should be very interesting.
June 21, 201213 yr Commercial Member In a strong head wing, im sure you can land backwards! Yeah, land backwards at what, 100 kts? Brandon Filer

June 21, 201213 yr the carbon cub ss is SUCH a sick plane... there is a company here in Wisconsin that modifies these to a stall speed of only 20kts!!! INSANE. (not sure how, but saw it on TV!! must be true)
June 21, 201213 yr Nice video, that thing has some crazy takeoff performance. I do hope we get the nice tinted windows. Carbon Fiber, nice tint... give it some hundred-spoke rims a pearlescent paint job and call it a DUB Cub. Todd Fleck
June 21, 201213 yr Apart from not knowing if this Cub will have a VC, we also don't know yet if this one comes with Alaska like the RV-6A did or if it is seperate DLC... But whatever: these are exciting times... I am sure if it is the carbon than it will come witha cockpit. At Vne of 140kts this is not a plane to race around in from outside view. Rather like the Maule. But while I understand that a cub is just perfect for Alaska I nonetheless wished thy did not offer yet another tail dragger...
