The J-3 has always been my favorite default airplane and this little hot rod looks like it will be loads of fun! Looking forward to it. Big%20Grin.gif

I am sure if it is the carbon than it will come with

a cockpit. At Vne of 140kts this is not a plane to race around in from outside view. Rather like the Maule. But while I understand that a cub is just perfect for Alaska I nonetheless wished thy did not offer yet another tail dragger...

Tail draggers are great in rough terrain if you know how to land one. You don't have to worry about breaking a nose gear, ripping out a firewall, or doing a front forward flip if your nose gear hits a deep rut ( had a CFI friend of mine killed when that happened).

Before the Piper J-3 CUB,there was the Taylorcraft E-2 Cub!....The J-3 has been around since 1937....A Pure Stick and Rudder Plane....It was the trainer that put America into the air..The Great Pilots of WW2,were cub trained Tandum seating, the instructors tool was a rolled up Sec. Chart of which he beat on the head of the Not too swift Student Pilots!.Also known as the L-4A,it took most all our Generals over battlefields...First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt was a Passenger in one...

In Wind,Cross Winds the CUB is no drive on plane!...As Far as Sims,,FSX model is a good representation..one model is offered ,and it is the best of them all for the Sim.but thats Payware!...Now If FLIGHT were to offer us a Rendition of the CUB,I would hope they incorporate some realisum into it....Like HAND PROPING????.However for Game Applications, I guess any YELLOW thing will suffice....the CUB can be the difference between a Game,or a Simulator....However ,In Flight we will enjoy it..IF??? IF they give us one!....If Asked what plane I would want for ALASKA???Why The BEAVER,On Tundra Wheels,On Skis, and on Floats...But then again I have them......HAVING FUN..Vin!!

Before I get excited I need to see a cockpit (VC that is)...

Beana51 posted a YouTube clip of the Alabama Boys' Piper Cub routine. This routine was originated by Richard Schram, AKA the Flying Professor. He was killed performing it. See http://www.blueangels.org/NANews/PPPMAST/Aug69/Aug69.htm.

The scuttlebut I heard (I was still in the Navy at the time) was that the control stick somehow became disconnected. Don't know if that's true, of course.

Did Not Know that...Thanx fot the H/U!!.Yes Stunt flying is a dangerous profession...Ever since Art Scholl and Paul Mantz, left us,i view these guys not as thrill seekers, exhibitionists but rather as some kind of the"Right Stuff" mold!. I think Bob Hoover is still with us!..Always from their errors, safety become enhanced......Sorry about .. Captain Richard A. Schram USNR....RIP!

Excellent choice of aircraft. Although being somewhat skeptical about Flight some months ago I actually might buy this if Alaska DLC is going to offer many bush flying airports to fly from. Papua New Guinea would be even better (currently flying around it in FSX), but Alaska is nice too.

Great aircraft choice. I'm excited to get back to FLIGHT. However, no VC...no go.

I'm deathly afraid of what the non vc aircraft will be. I think there will be a helicopter and a float plane besides the Carbon Cub. There should also be a heavy lift aircraft of some sort, a DC-3, C-46 or DC-4 would be nice but not likely due to the multi engine requirement not being supported. We shell see............

Another phrase from my English teacher guessing the future: Alaska's going to be a "wash". (Only because of the Carbon Cub)

Well, now we know.

Maybe there will still be a useful plane with Alaska.

Kind of ironic that this discussion should come up at this time. While cleaning out a bunch of old magazines today in my computer room, I ran across a copy of Plane & Pilot dated October 2010. Right there on the cover is the Carbon Cub. There is a pretty good article on it inside. Don't know why I didn't remember it. Cool. I guess I'll hang on to this a while longer to see if the performance in Flight matches the specs in the mag. Be aware, however, this is a LSA so its' utility use will be severly limited. Much like the flying kite in F

Thank you.
