Why do my runways look like this?

Featured Replies

This is KLAS airport with my Wilco CRJ-900. I have MegaSceneryX Las Vegas here. And the runways didnt used to look like this at this airport.

And when I land this plane on any runway at this airport the planes WHEELS ONLY sink under the runway amd then the plane slides on its belly. Every time I landat KLAS with this plane the plane does this crash landing.

I also have recently installed MegaSceneryEarth for almost the full state of Arizona, and my KPHX runways also appear this way.

But I am able to land on the KPHX runways without my wheels sinking under.

Basically my CRJ-900 lands as if it has no wheels or gear. but only on the runways at KLAS.

Its very confusing and I have no idea why it does this. Im about to just Unistall all of my MegaSceneryEarth... :(

runway looks like this only when my plane is on it, and the textureless area follows my plane almost as if its lights were causing the textures below it to look like this, but thats not the case here.

Make sure KLAS is on top in your scenery priority list.

Looks like megascenery bleeding through.

thanks, so do I just move "Default Scenery" to the top of the list? or is KLAS one of the "BASE" files that I need to move up on top? I dont have an addon KLAS airport.

Do you have an addon AFCAD or Mesh?

Al Stiff

Al's question is a good one. Perhaps it's just some elevation problem due to the mesh being used. I don't know if MS Las Vegas comes with some extra mesh, but

Im about to just Unistall all of my MegaSceneryEarth...

shouldn't be necessary.

So you have the default KLAS airport and the Megascenery Las Vegas, right? Well, you could add some freeware KLAS and see if it fixes the elevation problem. When installed, you can move that freeware KLAS above the Megascenery entries in the scenery library.

Try this one for example, it should also be very current on the layout and frequencies. http://library.avsim...D=fsx&Go=Search

I had exactly the same issue with Megascenery Las Vegas and also Hawaii. The Hawaii scenery was cured by downloading the latest patch, which I was very disappointed in 'cos my scenery download was only the other week and it hadn't been updated. Seems strange that they didn't automatically update their scenery with the latest patch. Anyway, as I said, I had the same problem as you with KLAS. I cured it by going into either the scenery or texture folder (can't remember which) and removing the terrain mesh file. The scenery terrain elevations will then revert back to whatever other scenery is beneath. In my case it was simply FSX default. Let us know how you get on, cheers...

That's a good idea from Howard on that mesh file. Perhaps combine the stuff, so get the current freeware airport (it will add detail for sure) and look for that mesh. Hoping the best.

Im having trouble finding that mesh file that im suppose to delete, i really have no clue where to look for it

Should be rather big if it's a single file. Something with mesh, terrain or DEM in the name. The file extension should be bgl. Erm, the photo bgl stuff could also be rather big, but if you accidentially disable those, you will easily be able to see it while in the top down view.

Is this FS9?

Does the problem still persist? :Worried: Did you find the mesh file and/or tried the freeware?

  • Author

yeah the problem still persists at kphx for some reason. I just could not find any mesh file any where. Even googled it and nothing. I guess ill just wait to see if i get any help on where the mesh file is kept.
