Take-On Helicopters

Featured Replies

I couldn't find anywhere else to post this query, so apologies in advance to the guys at PMDG for this. I am wondering if anyone has purchased the Bohemia Interactive product "Take-On Helicopters"? I am considering purchasing it and would like to know your thoughts on this product.

Post in Hangar chat you can't post stuff about helicopter sims in a PMDG forum!

I bought it a couple of weeks ago and I do have a bit of mixed feelings:

1.The flight models are, as far as I can tell, excellent. Its a real challenge to fly the machines.

- But this isnt a sim for the button-pushers and procedural geeks

2. The two areas to fly in (base pack:Seattle and somwhere in South-east Asia) isnt exactly overwhelming. I was a tad disappointed when

I flew over Boeing field or SeaTac and other landmarks. I expected a bit more details and traffic. The graphics are not the best.

- But the helicopters them self are very nice! I like the models. And on top of that you can buy extra gear for the helicopters or just buy brand

new helicopters

3. The career mode is just pure fun. You do walk-arounds, fly here and there and do different missions (from filming whales to flying executives on sightseeing). You even get the chance to fly one of the characters backflash to military ops in the south-east asian scenery.

The training is performed with an instructor, which I think is a very cool feature.

I do enjoy it alot in the end, even if I think its lacking things on the graphics and the procedures of the machines themselves.

If you want PMDG class helicopter simulator you should go for Black Shark.

I tried DCS - found it hard to use, especially with the cockpit of the chopper all in Russian.

In the options there is an option for an English cockpit.
