Has anybody done it via the campsite? I was thinking flying in nearby, rent a small RV or camper and stay right on the grounds for a couple of days. Seems that would be the fun way... just walk to the grounds, enjoy the evening events.

Hows the weather at that time there? I would think pretty hot and "sticky"? What do people do for food?

thx,

I used to love watching Clutch Cargo on Carfield Goose ( WGN Chicago ) when I was a kid.

Anyway camping would be great fun but I never had the time and my wife would nver go for it.. A lot of stuff goes on after the airshow in the cambground area. Food is no problem at all during Airventure, beleive me. You can just never tell about the weather, but it should be plenty warm this year for sure, I havebeen there during every kind of weather you can think of except snow.

This will take some planning. Camp Scholler, the RV camping area, fills up just like everything else in and around OSH, and local rentals will also require reservations significantly in advance. Adjacent airports also get pretty full unless you're talking about going all the way north to Green Bay or south to Milwaukee. This thing is BIG. :-)

Hot and muggy, cool and rainy and everything in between. Definitely be prepared for both ends of the spectrum with sunscreen and rain gear. As for food, there's plenty available on-site.

Oh. My.

I've been in Colorado for over 40 years now, but I grew up in La Grange on a steady diet of Frasier Thomas and Garfield Goose and Friends. I always thought the way they animated the mouths on Clutch and Company was just a bit creepy.

And now, we're officially waay off topic. ;-)

I just got back from an amazing (and hot) couple days in Oshkosh. It's really almost too much to take in, there are so many things going on and so many planes to see. It would take forever to download all of them for FSX. The event is still going on all week through Sunday, so there's still plenty of time to make a trip.

Contrary to the original post, Microsoft Flight does not seem have a booth there yet, unless they plan to set it up later this week. Their spot was empty and the official printed program did not list them even though they were listed in an online .pdf. I did however, see the X-Plane and aeroflyFS booths.

I posted a few photos or see more photos at the second link:

Roger that, thanks for the pics. I will be there Friday and will check out the Microsoft booth situation. Funny they were not set up already.

Well, I wonder if they changed plans at the last minute, since they're not listed in the actual printed program.

I'm already missing Oshkosh. I'm thinking about making another day trip up on the weekend.

I think it was 'Everyone remember where we parked' from Star Trek IV

I asked an old co-worker who flew his RV-7 to Osh, and he said Flight will NOT be at Oshkosh this year. Im more inclined to trust those words, so dont get your hopes up.

That's kinda sad. I'm assuming the old co-worker is the guy on the flight team who owns an RV-7.

I suspect he had a lot more to say than that. Was much of it positive?
