July 23, 201213 yr HI all, Upgraded my PC about 15 months ago, and was finally able to run FSX with most sliders to the right (heck, it only six years to get that running good) - I've recently gone back to FS9 because of the super QW Avro But a couple of things I miss in FSX that I don't have in FS9; - smooth panning. I love the smooth panning in FSX, either the efault or EZDOK. That said, the default camera system does suck a tad. EZDOK is good, but fiddly. - blurries. These seem to have gone in FSX. I can fly jets at 25 000 with crystal clear photoscenery here. Same hardware on FS9 seems to blur on default scenery, let alone photoscenery - horizons, haze and sunsets, they seem better in FSX Love the fact that I can run every slider maxed in FS9, and I just don't need to worry about performance issues. I'm also revisiting sceneries I'd not used in a long time..and also getting use of those FS9 parallel sceneries I got buying the FSX versions :) Does anyone have any recommendations as to what can help me get some way to getting these things I love in FSX on par in FS9? Mainly my above points, but other enhancements welcome Freeware or payware I am not too fussed. I have a feeling that FS9 enjoyment may not end once QW release the FSX version of the Avro :) Already have ASE, AES, FSGenesis for both platforms as a start... Ta, Leo Louise London, UK
July 23, 201213 yr There must be something wrong with your FS9 setup! Default panning is very smooth in my set up and if you are getting blurries at 25,000 feet then there must definitely be something wrong as even in in the default version of FS9 they are not an issue at that height! I start to get blurries when I am in the region of just 1,000 feet. Have you tried searching this forum for tips and tricks to help you with setting up FS9? There are plenty of suggestions around here. David
July 23, 201213 yr maybe add GE Pro to your setup also. I have no more blurries since i searched the net looking for the best fs9.cfg settings and mixed it all up with: GE Pro, REX, Zinertek, FS Genesis, ENB Mod and other addons. Even my water looks better than FSX. If u install REX first then Zinertek Ultimate Water Advanced then play with the settings alittle, you can surpass FSX water.

David I agree - your PC specification is significantly more powerful than mine and yet I can run FS9 very nicely without blurries on default scenery and have very smooth panning. I think, as has been suggested, that once you find the correct cfg for your setup you will notice a huge difference (I certainly did with mine eventually!), but often it is a matter of trial and error before you find the right one as there are a lot of suggestions circulating through the forums! Please, please post some pics of your water. I've both sims installed as well and have never seen any add on that could be used to make FS9 water look as good as the variety of water texture/animations available for FSX. Not that FSX water is the end all but imho it looks a lot more realistic than any water combo in FS9. Then again if a dev could have found a way to force higher res ground textures to work in FS9, both photoreal and generic, as well as FSX style water I would never have had a reason to use FSX at all. I like GE Pro but dont think it looks as nice as GEX mainly due to the resolution issue in FS9. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

If u have these addons just use google search or i can post my settings on here from my fs9.cfg file. I will try to post a pic later this week.........i'm a few thousand miles away from home at the moment(at work) Zinertek has realistic water settings and photorealistic.
July 24, 201213 yr I don't actually like FSX water at all, despite the initial Wow response... the waves don't scale, and mostly look like an old-fashioned textured plastic shower door to me. There's lots you can do in FS9, as mentioned. I think this might be Zinertek water (never can be sure what I did last), anyway here's a sample of what I see, which I am not too unhappy about.
