July 28, 201213 yr Commercial Member Has anyone managed to get RealAir's Lancair Legacy fully functional in Prepar3D? I was able to install it, but it lacks the extra switch sounds, brake squeaks, etc. Anyone figure out a way to make things work? Thanks, Brandon Brandon Filer
July 29, 201213 yr Be sure to check the Microsoft Flight Simulator X/Sounds folder for any aircraft sounds.
July 29, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member I already checked that. The strange thing is that everything seems to be there. I'm thinking that it may just be something hardcoded into the systems that is causing it to not be able to locate the sounds and use them appropriately. I was hoping someone may have discovered a way of fixing this, but I'm starting to think it may not be possible based on what I have been looking at so far. I'm going to continue to inspect the internal workings of this plane though and see if I can come up with a solution. Brandon Filer

I'm going to continue to inspect the internal workings of this plane though and see if I can come up with a solution. I've explored this in depth myself and it seems to lie in the way the calls are made to cue up the sounds and a hardcoded change. ie: The gauges. Prepar3D doesn't like some gauges since FSX did the whole trusted thing and Prepar3D doesn't. If you listen closely you can hear a light `skip' / `crackle' when deploying flaps, speed brakes, gear etc.. It's TRYING to play something but just isn't making it through correctly. If you come up with a solution update this thread if possible or PM me. It's not a deal breaker though and was the risk I took buying it. :) Still one of my most flown and favorite aircraft! July 29, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member Since you mention the "trusted" thing, I wonder if adding the gauge manually to the Prepar3D CFG would help at all? I'll try it out later today and see what happens. UPDATE: It didn't work. I did hear the skip/crackle before and after trying this fix, but that's it. If I figure out a solution, I will definitely update the thread. Maybe it's time to send a message to RealAir. :) Brandon Filer
July 29, 201213 yr I have the same issue (of course) and asked the developer about it in the special Legacy forum. His answer was: 'The Legacy was designed for FSX' http://forum.avsim.net/topic/378975-installing-the-legacy-in-prepar3d/ I also tried the LM forum, but nothing.
July 29, 201213 yr LM definitely won't help you in that sort of situation unless it's a definitive bug that specifically has to do with a wrong doing with Prepar3D itself. (like the water reflection bug crashing Carenado aircraft) and Rob doesn't own Prepar3D so he really isn't going to have much more to add. He's nice enough to let us be running it in Prepar3D anyway. ^_^ Only way it will get fixed is if a tinker stumbles across a way or if Rob buys Prepar3D and correctly ports it. I never found the sound issue to be a problem though.. Sure it takes away some of the ambiance of the plane but overall the old gal stick kicks butt! July 30, 201213 yr LM definitely won't help you in that sort of situation unless it's a definitive bug that specifically has to do with a wrong doing with Prepar3D itself. I know, but I hoped at the time that another 'user' that visits that forum might know the solution. Jan Vaane tried to help me, but to no avail. It's true that we can still use the Legacy in P3D, and that is good, but I wish all the sounds would also work because they really add to the immersion factor. ^_^ Maybe we should start a fundraising and buy Rob a copy of P3D :P [edit] I asked him... http://forum.avsim.net/topic/378975-installing-the-legacy-in-prepar3d/#entry2432044
August 4, 201213 yr I am not at home to give a 100% proof, but guys: I think my Legacy works quite fine and I get all these sounds as I was used to in FSX. So, I am the only one? September 24, 201213 yr Eric - I had the same problem with sounds in the Lancair Legacy until I ran Prepar3D by selecting "Prepar3D Legacy Mode" which only appears in the Start \ Programs \ Lockheed Martin folder when "FSX to Prepar3D Migration Tool" is active. I'd got use to the 'quiet' cockpit up till that point and it fair made me jump when I set flaps for takeoff for the first time after discovering this option !! So good to have the wonderful clicks, bumps and rattles back :yahoo: BTW are you the same Eric Bakker that I used to see in the ATP and PS1 forums? Regards, John aka John Heaton
September 24, 201213 yr So, to be able to put the Legacy on the list, can someone confirm, 100% that it works in P3D just as it does in FSX, without compromise?
September 25, 201213 yr Not for me. The only way I found to have all cockpit sounds working is to use the "FSX to Prepar3D Migration Tool" with the virtual FSX active and launch Prepar3D in "legacy mode" Claudio Colangeli Ex Private Pilot
September 25, 201213 yr When used in conjunction with the "FSX to Prepar3D Migration Tool", I'd say it works without compromise, However for those who choose not to purchase the migration tool, the Legacy's sounds seem restricted to engine noise. In that case - 99% compatible? I'd personally add it to the 'working' list with that caveat. aka John Heaton
September 26, 201213 yr issgazer, many thanks for the workaround! Shame you have to faff around to get it to work fully in P3D, but at least it does! The workaround also works for the Duke soundpack!
