August 22, 201213 yr We get by just fine with a Lear 45 and Gulfstream IV... No need for anything more really.... Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
August 22, 201213 yr HMMMMMMM.........Makes me think how many foreign parts go into a 747-800..... Spot on, Matthew. There was a bogus part case a while back which hit the entire industry. They also found some of them on AF1. Regarding Rónán's pictures, it's actually quite interesting when looking how other countries (smaller and big ones) handle the case. Even those with some atomic bombs to 'guide'. I'm waiting for a relaxed politician taking the ship to travel to urgent meetings.

I do really like our 757's...so pretty We just stuff our PM into the back of one of these ones: http://www.airforce....raft/boeing.htm Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
August 22, 201213 yr Costly transport though for a small country of similar size to us. I mean, we complain about our ministers even using the above jets due to the expense, in fact there was such an outcry, most ministers now just fly with regular commercial airlines, well airline. I can't imagine having that big a jet for one of our ministers or An Taoiseach... Is it just an image thing or does NZ have some nuclear codes they want to launch from anywhere? Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
August 22, 201213 yr Is it just an image thing or does NZ have some nuclear codes they want to launch from anywhere? No, the bigger planes just allow for more alcohol on board. Ask the Germans about their A340 and they will tell you. Don't know about the French A330, I may ask them. The heavy burden of politics. So to speak. ^_^ Increases the GW too.

Regards, Ró. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing NZ uses their 757 for general transport duties as well, not just for carrying VIPs. John-Alan Pascoe
August 22, 201213 yr I could be wrong, but I'm guessing NZ uses their 757 for general transport duties as well, not just for carrying VIPs. You nailed it....They are Combi's I have no problem with that...The Prime Minister has to sit in the back. LOL On the otherhand....those 757's in the hands of the airforce are the best of the Boeing fleet to get the PM in and out of anywhere, for example Antarctica: I would like to see Air Force 1 get in and out of there  http://www.airforce....e030ff6bcf8.htm Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
August 22, 201213 yr Right you are, only few commercial jets go there. What's the list? B757 and A319 or something, right?
August 22, 201213 yr Right you are, only few commercial jets go there. What's the list? B757 and A319 or something, right? That is correct....However the 757 is much bigger then the A319....A Hot Rod by comparison. The 737 would easily do the task as well as the 737 is used in Arctic operations already, it has a gravel kit. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
August 22, 201213 yr On the 737 part. Got a link? Sounds cool and I'm on some older 737 these days. Captain Sim has one of these: Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
August 22, 201213 yr Yeah, I know. I meant the rw ops at Antarctica with the 737. Those happen? Link? CS currently lacks of the 'gravel kit', but Milviz is on it, which is cool. Literally.
August 22, 201213 yr Yeah, I know. I meant the rw ops at Antarctica with the 737. Those happen? Link? If they tried it....it would make it....If I had 1 million dollars, then I would pay for it to prove that it would make it. Air Force One.....not too sure LOL Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
August 22, 201213 yr Ok, I admit it, I'm hoping for the new AF1 to be the 737-200. Looks so cool and I already liked that 707 livery. As Ali G. said, 'keep it real'!
August 22, 201213 yr I heard the argument about the 4 engines and I think that is a load of crap....Like the Luftwaffe is going to shoot down a 747 like it is was a B-17 bomber LOL If anyone is going to hit an Air Force 1 at this day and age, it won't matter how many engines it has because it will be gone, stop thinking like this is World War 2. Just like Pearl Harbour and 911....future attacks won't be what you think it is and that is the entire idea behind them. (and this is just my thoughts and opinion as a humble citizen who intends to hurt no one ever) I am just being realistic here. EDIT: Better off....just stuff him onto a ScramJet because he would have a better chance then a useless 4 engine sitting duck at about 40,000 feet. Look at the history of the world and how they used to do things......Deception is better Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
