August 23, 201213 yr I got my NGX yesterday and have been unable to stop flying it either by hand or by the FMS on the tutorial missions. Very nicely done PMDG. Now I've decided to do a flight that I've done many times in real life, MKJP (NMIA, Kingston Jamaica) to KFLL (Fort Lauderdale Hollywood, Florida) on an Air Jamaica 737 (already have the livery installed). The challenge I have is obtaining a flight plan that the FMS will accept. I tried using siroutes.com to generate one but the FMS doesn't show the SID I expect to see nor does it accept the airway generated (UA301). Since that flight plan looks like one that FSX would generate, I'm assuming its either outdated, wrong, or both. My question is where can I go to get info to plan my flights? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chris Magnus Chris Magnus HR Manager Air Jamaica Virtual Airlines and Cargo (http://www.airjamaicavirtualairlinesandcargo.org)
August 23, 201213 yr Commercial Member UA301 is likely pretty old. Simroutes isn't always up to date. FlightAware.com uses flight plans filed in real time, so they'll generally always be accurate. Use that for flights to/from the US instead. Kyle Rodgers
August 23, 201213 yr Hi, As well as Flightaware you can try V routes which offers both a free or paid for version. This route was obtained from Flightaware ,used 3 days ago and is also the first routing shown in V routes. UNV UB760 BORDO B760 ZBV WAVUN1 just add dep code and arrival codes. To enter in the FMC use MKJP to KFLL then to enter on the route page Direct UNV then LHS enter UB760 RHS Bordo etc. Norman Bowman

Took awhile to find the SID info for the airport that looked like how I remembered the flights. In the air now. Thanks for the help. August 23, 201213 yr Flightaware is okay for US routes, anything else just use this: http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ Dev Singh
August 23, 201213 yr Author Looks like I missed something. Have a look at the attached image. It appears I missed something or the FMC saw something it didn't like. Any ideas as to the cause? August 23, 201213 yr try http://www.vataware.com It's basically an archive of all the flightplans people file/fly on Vatsim. Click on the 'top routes' link, enter the dep/dest and it gives you the most commonly flown FlightPlan route between those airports. Regards. Ernie.
August 23, 201213 yr Flightaware is okay for US routes, anything else just use this: http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ rfinder isnt a route database, instead it generates the flightplan dynamically on the fly. This means that the routes it outputs often would be illegal in real life, as the generator doesnt take things like LoAs and flight direction into consideration. The route would of course be flyable in the sim. If you dont really care if the route you are flying is a legal real world route then rfinder is a fine tool. However, if you care then I would suggest that you only use route databases like http://flightaware.com, http://vataware.com, http://vroute.info or http://edi-gla.co.uk instead vatsim s3
August 23, 201213 yr Author I used http://vataware.com earlier and managed that worked well. The plane pretty much flew itself from MKJP almost to KFLL. I suspect I messed something up in the programming of the arrival as the route had (VECTOR) in it on what should have been the final leg and the plane flew past the point where I expected it to turn on the final approach leg. Need to figure that one out and any help in pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. Edi-gla is great overall. But there are times where you just can't get a route from one place to another, so rfinder has to suffice. That's the only thing I use to plan all my flights in Europe and I have yet to have a controller tell me something was wrong. Europe uses standard routes I guess to fly from A to B. Use edi-gla. As long as you're not looking for flights over the Atlantic or Pacific you'll be fine. Dev Singh
August 24, 201213 yr Probably the second best flight sim product I have bought (Behind the NGX ;) ), vroute. It is a great utility for flight planning. It even has an export function for some aircraft! Oliver Cooksey Owner of the PMDG 737, 747 and Majestic Q400.

August 24, 201213 yr As for the discontinuity, you need to insert a STAR before FLL. The CURSO2 arrival via EYW (Key West) should be appropriate. I use http://www.airnav.com for all my USA charts. Great site, easy to navigate, and everything is current and free! woooot!
