December 2, 201213 yr Well, in terms of being partnered with MegaScenery, it's possible it may end up being a good thing. Perhaps they will get to work on some autogen or scenery objects now. Megascenery did that in their earlier scenery (SoCal, etc.) and I, personally, prefer those areas to everything. Chatting with others, the lack of autogen in nearly all of the photogen scenery can already be offset by using Cities X (daytime only) for long haul pilots (which I'm not). For me they'd need a Towns X (LOL) but it would be sparse fairly popular towns...Santa Barbara, Bakersfield, Monterey, San Jose, Paso Robles. December 2, 201213 yr I just went over and looked at the Megascenery Earth site and found this blurb: We've eliminated custom autogen. We feel that photoscenery should be what it is and not "tainted" with artificial autogen scenery. MegaSceneryEarth simply looks better to fly with as photoreal textures only. Night scenery. We are working on bringing you night scenery as a free upgrade to any MegaSceneryEarth 2.0 scenery that you purchase. Since most flight simmers fly during the day 90% of the time, we have made it our priority to complete the USA day time scenery before we then move onto night scenery. When we do, you will receive a free upgrade to the day time scenery you purchased for the same area. Tainted. The biggest complaint I hear about photoscenery is that it is utterly flat (and I, as a photoreal fan, agree). They're saying it's a plus if it's utterly flat. Bull... *coughs*. But they are making night versions of the scenery. That'll be nice. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. I'll wait until the night textures get released before making any purchases on new areas that way I can see how they look. Besides the fact that I always feel their is no guarantee that the update will come. Plus what time frame are they talking about for the night texture update, a few months from now, 6 months, a year or more? I've seen a few instances where updates never came and was left holding the bag. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 2, 201213 yr Tainted. The biggest complaint I hear about photoscenery is that it is utterly flat (and I, as a photoreal fan, agree). There was a long thread about this when Megascenery first announced the Earth 2.0 stuff. What I was hoping for was seeing something more along the lines of the MegasceneryX products, with high quality, high resolution photo source, good watermasking, some reasonable autogen and night. And yes, I was and still am willing to pay more than what I could have gotten SimSavvy for and wait longer to get these things. Given how committed Megascenery had been to autogen with both the Earth and X lines, that part of the announcement sounded pretty much like what it is - marketing spin. I haven't heard too much from users of the new releases. Any comments on Earth 2.0 yet? Scott
