Which Track Ir Setting Does Most Simmers use?

Featured Replies

Hi i would like to know which setting does most simmers use? For example i am having a hard time with the Track clip or Vector . When using both its uncomfortable . So i want to know which one you guys use? I try vector once but it makes head movement not to realistic . For example i could put my head upside down .

Her's a link to what I use, MrLeny:-

It's not the default smooth - i just modified it to my preferences. You can download this and put it into the TrackIR5\Profiles folder

Here's how I fixed the clip - I hate a hat, so I riveted a 1/2" x 3" piece of thin steel to the top of the headset headband, and then screwed the clip to it. Works just fine.

Lol I was going to ask that question... I've modified a profile with a rather large dead area as I tend to fly Flight in Eyefinity with three monitors. However, in FSX I tend to use only the centre monitor and with the profile I have, it doesn't give enough left/right or up/ down movement. I'll give yours a try when I get a chance and see if it helps. Otherwise it's back to tweaking. (only had it a few days) so thank you too!

Without straying off topic too much, when I use FSX in Eyefinity, although it is totally amazing, at night I get a massive glow in the distance from all the lights, (I fly around EGLL a lot) in fact all the lights at night seem to just be too big and glow too much which is a big shame. I use a resolution off 5800*1080 sorry to bring it up here. With TIR and my other profile it's just the bees knees but not on a single monitor.

I highly recommend a profile called "Seth - Flight" it's over at the NaturalPoint forums... under Track IR profiles... It's what made me decide to keep TIR :)

Thanks for that :) I forgot to mention I'd tried that one :$ maybe I'm being too fussy or it's because I'm sitting a bit too far back from my monitors. I'm just going to do tweaking, let's face it, some of us are just as hooked on that as flying!

Have you compared it to the AndyDigital profile?

Thanks Ryan, am going to try to see what happens. This is my first time using track ir5 i had few months back . But when open it an try it out i was like what is the difference between track ir 4 an 5 . I mean have try them both an i saw no difference . But i see almost everyone here uses version 5. I do admit i had hard time setting up with Ezdok camera . There was always some issue. Until now that i got it running smooth with Paul smooth profile. I will try the one you told me ryan i saw a tutorial on youtube just now an the same guy uses that one you said .

Love this profile thank you :)

Glad you like it! It's sure not like the original "Smooth" is it!

I've not tried it...

About the three monitors... I can't stand TIR with more than one. My coworker's got a nice 3 montor setup with AMD cards but when he uses TIR 4 it's terrible imho... AFAIK there's no way to fix the huge light globs either.

@DarkstarF16 - how far away from the monitors are you and how level is your receiver from the unit?

No it's completely different from the original. Saved me loads of time which I could dedicate to getting my DX10 settings just right :) still a bit of work to do their :)

I really only use Eyefinity with Flight, coupled with TIR it's truly awesome.

I'm about 3 feet away and the receiver is level. The vid was taken before I got TIR. As for the lights un FSX at night, thanks for the info. I'll just use it for daytime flights. :)

TIR + EzDok = variable nightmare... But worth it once you dial them in. Nice set up. What size are your monitors?

Not got that variable nightmare yet, but as I'm a glutton for punishment...

Thanks, and they are AOC 21.5" LED which have worked real well so far.
